August 7, 2024--The Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions (VAPDC) elected members to its Board of Directors at its annual Business Meeting held virtually today.
Board officers were elected to one-year terms as follows: Dwayne Tuggle (Central Virginia Planning District Commission) was elected President, and Mike Hankins (Commonwealth Regional Council) was elected First Vice President. Also re-elected for an additional one-year term were Patrick Mauney (Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission) as Second Vice President and Kevin Byrd (New River Valley Regional Commission) as Secretary/Treasurer. Lou Ann Wallace (Cumberland Plateau Planning District Commission) will serve as Immediate Past President.
Dwayne Tuggle is in his fifth year on the VAPDC Board, having previously served as First Vice President. He has been Mayor of the Town of Amherst since 2016 and sits on the Central Virginia PDC.
Mike Hankins is in his second year on the Board of Directors. He is the current Chair of the Commonwealth Regional Council and sits on the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors.
Patrick Mauney has been with the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission for more than 18 years, the last eight as Executive Director.
Kevin Byrd was appointed as Executive Director of the New River Valley Regional Commission in 2009 and has served as Secretary/Treasurer of VAPDC since 2010. He also is a Past President of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO).
Elected to another one-year term as Directors for 2024-2025 were: Josepha Bolling-Thompson, Mount Rogers Planning District Commission; Robert Crum, Hampton Roads Planning District Commission; Brandon Davis, Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission; Deborah Gosney, Southside Planning District Commission; and Dr. Mark Moore, Crater Planning District Commission. Chip Boyles, George Washington Regional Commission, as a new Director.
