Urge Legislators To Support The Local Radio Freedom Act

At the start of every two-year Congressional session, the PAB and the NAB lead the effort to get Pennsylvania members of Congress to sign on to the Local Radio Freedom Act Resolution.

Join me in thanking Representatives Boyle (co-chair of the Congressional Broadcast Caucus), Evans, Fitzpatrick, Houlahan, Joyce, Kelly and Meuser for their continued early support.

Please contact your member of Congress and share how important this issue is to you as radio can not afford an additional tax for composer and performance artists.

The Advocacy tab of the NAB website gives a great explanation of this important copyright matter.

We need to get to 218, out of 435 members of Congress to defeat the tax. Onward!

Music Industry Tries Again, Hoping New Congress Will Solve Old Radio Royalty Standoff

Broadcasters are expected once again to rally their supporters in Congress to sign a pledge that they do not support a royalty on over-the-air music use. National Association of Broadcasters President Curtis LeGeyt has said he remains hopeful that a settlement can be worked out, however the NAB has said the music industry has so far refused to sit down at the negotiating table.

NAB to FCC: ATSC 3.0 Transition Is in Peril

The National Association of Broadcasters said that without some action by the FCC, including sunsetting the requirement to broadcast in both the current and next-generation transmission formats, that next-generation format — the ATSC 3.0 transmission standard — is “in peril,” and with it broadcasters’ future. nexttv.com

Broadcasters And FCC Are Split Over The Next Steps To Modernize EAS

New rules aimed at making the Emergency Alert System more resilient to cyberhacks being proposed by the Federal Communications Commission are drawing fire from broadcasters. Industry groups say that while protecting EAS is a laudable goal, the rules being contemplated are “unnecessary” and would do little to make the system more secure. InsideRadio.com

NAB Hails Introduction of Resolution Opposing New Performance Fee on Local Radio

A bipartisan coalition of 119 members of the House of Representatives introduced a resolution in Congress today opposing "any new performance fee, tax, royalty or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. Upcoming regulatory dates of importance to broadcasters in February and early March
