Dear Residents -

Halloween is right around the corner and with it, one of my favorite events—the Annual Nyack Halloween Parade. It steps off tomorrow at 5:30 pm at Memorial Park in Nyack and it is always entertaining, with creative costumes and an enthusiastic crowd. So, put on a costume and come out to join the fun!

The 2025 Rockland County Tourism Funding Application is now available. This program assists eligible Rockland-based nonprofit organizations (or profit organizations in partnership with a nonprofit) who promote local events and attractions outside of Rockland County. Projects should highlight what Rockland has to offer in areas such as cultural, art, historical, or nature-based attractions. For more information, click here. The application closes at 5:00 pm on December 2, 2024.

Just a reminder that Thursday, November 1, 2024 is the final day to submit photos from around Orangetown to be used on the new town website. Of interest are photos that highlight what makes Orangetown a special place to live. For more information, click here.

Early voting starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Town Hall. As a reminder, there is no voting on Monday, November 4, 2024. Then on Election Day, voting is at your regular polling locations. For information on times and dates, click here. And if you are not registered to vote, you still have one more day to do so. For information on how to register, click here

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

St. Thomas Aquinas College Meet and Greet

Supervisor Kenny met with St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) President Ken Daly, Dean/Vice President Kevin Nesbitt and Director of Security Mike Greco to discuss how Orangetown and the college can work together. She then took a tour of the campus – even joining in a game of pool with one of the students.

Brownfield Redevelopment Workshop

Supervisor Kenny joined a distinguished panel at a workshop entitled “Breaking Brownfields: Exploring Redevelopment Opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley.” The conference, held at the Stony Point Community Center with Supervisor Monaghan presenting, was co-hosted by the Urban Land Institute and the NJ Institute of Technology and focused on strategies to overcome redevelopment challenges at the old Letchworth Village property.

Happy 102nd Birthday Peggy Koleduk

Supervisor Kenny stopped by to wish Peggy Koleduk a very Happy 102nd Birthday and to present her with a Certificate of Recognition – which will be proudly displayed on her wall next to last year’s certificate!

Pearl River Day 2024

A Pearl River Day for the books! Supervisor Kenny, alongside her family and friends, had a great time at Pearl River Day. Thanks to the exceptional weather, the street was overflowing with people. It was a great day all around for the Town of Friendly People.

Robert “Doc” Schelin Memorial Highway

Supervisor Kenny joined local officials and St. Thomas Aquinas College staff at the Doc Schelin Memorial Highway Dedication. Doc Schelin gave so much to the community, including being a 50-year life member of the Volunteer Fire Association of Tappan, a member of the Rockland Community College Board of Trustees, and a member of the Orangetown Traffic Advisory Board, to name just a few. The Doc Schelin Memorial Highway, located on State Route 340, is a perfect tribute to a man who went above and beyond for his community.
