Making our mark

VCNP Southwest Region members Teresa Tyson and Paula Hill-Collins met with Governor Youngkin in Richmond in January.

They talked with him about health care needs in the Appalachian Region.
Looking for NPs - pediatric, neonatal, geriatric, family & acute car
Do you work in pediatrics, neonatology or geriatrics, or are you a family or acute care NP? If you’d like to be featured in future VCNP communications, please send your name, credentials, a photo and 1-2 sentences about why you chose your field or why you love what you do.
Autonomous practice licensure = support for NP profession
As of February 1, there were 2,827 NPs with autonomous practice licensure in Virginia. How quickly can we get to 3,000?

Although we are disappointed with the outcome of this year’s legislation, VCNP remains committed to working to advance future scope of practice legislation. As NPs, it’s important that we show the importance of autonomous practice licensure by applying when we’re eligible, even if licensure won’t benefit our current practice. Current requirements call for 5 or more years of clinical practice experience.
