Welcome March! We were so lucky to have a fairly mild February and are looking forward to the weather March may bring. Although we know Indiana weather has a way of tricking us into thinking we're getting an early spring, we'll still enjoy the beautiful days while they last!

Has anyone else been enjoying these unseasonably warm days outside on the back patio? Have you been cranking on your outdoor fire pits early? If this weather has you feeling green with envy, don't worry, the Pros are your lucky charm! We'll help you brainstorm your next backyard renovation and answer all your burning questions. Stay tuned over the next few weeks on our social media, where we'll be answering all of the questions we've gotten lately.

Our team sharpened their skills last month at the Indiana Green Expo and even went down to Texas for one of our favorite industry events. We have completed training courses, taken exams to receive additional certifications, visited with peers to learn more best practices, and met with local vendors so we can continue to deliver the best experience for our clients. We've also been looking back on some favorite projects and taking a look at what trends may be prevalent this year. We can't wait to see what our designers come up with in 2023!

While your backyard design might be the show-stopper, your front yard is the face of your home and its first impression. Let's give it some love and sprucing up this season with beautiful florals to add color and curb appeal or even a full overhaul with new pavers and landscaping.

The Pros started the year strong with the front porch design below. We often think about paver patios out back, but how about this new paver walkway to add curb appeal to the front of your home?? We used Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone pavers with a Copthorne border to create this bold look that's sure to wow guests.

How can we help overhaul your front yard this year? Here's some ideas to get you started!

  • Landscape lighting and uplighting on your home
  • Natural stone flower bed borders
  • Plants that add color and fit the style and space of your home
  • Upgrading your walkway to paver or natural stone

Water Drainage: The not-so-glamorous part of the design process, but you’ll be glad you have it after a big rain in the spring. So why should you care about proper water drainage? Ultimately, it will save the integrity of your home’s foundation and save you tons of time and money in the long run.

From burying downspouts under mulch beds and redirecting the water away from the base of the home to creating dry creek beds or completely re-grading the yard, the Pros are here to help.

What to look for if you suspect drainage problems:

  • Sitting surface water on your property
  • Mulch or soil washing out around the base of your home
  • Uneven surfaces that slope towards your home’s foundation instead of away from it

If you’re starting a new project with the Pros, we’ll already be inspecting your current drainage status. However, if you’re concerned there might be an issue, we can help with some simple drainage solutions. Start with our water drainage blog.
