Meet the D4 Interns!

These aspiring young change-makers have joined our office to gain hands-on experience, develop critical skills, and immerse themselves in the dynamic world of public service. Throughout their tenure, our interns will work closely with seasoned professionals, fostering a culture of mentorship and learning that leaves an indelible mark on their personal and professional growth.

District 4 Community Outreach Liaison Angela Pedrigal reviewing documents with interns Jasmin, Naoko, and Bradly at City Hall.

Our entire team enjoyed an eye-opening tour of the GreenWaste facility in Alviso.

Jasmine

Jasmine is a lifelong San Jose resident who graduated from Branham High School and is entering her second year at UC- Riverside as a neuroscience major. Five years of journalism gave her the opportunity to highlight underrepresented communities, realize the need for advocacy, and take action in her community. She has a special interest in equity, policy, and the union between medicine and society.

Bradly

Bradly is a second generation Bay Area resident who was raised in Berryessa and currently resides in Redwood City. Bradly is currently enrolled at Carlmont High School and is planning to apply to college this year as a political science major. He is very passionate towards assisting the unhoused community. Through his involvement with AStepForward, an organization he and his friends started, he has helped donate over 600 pairs of shoes to people in need. Bradly is also deeply involved in his school’s student government, and is passionate towards planning events to foster a sense of community and create a strong environment within his school. In his free time Bradly enjoys snowboarding, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Naoka

Naoka has been a lifelong resident of Santa Clara County and is currently enrolled at Monta Vista High School. She has interned with the Santa Clara County Office of Education Youth Advocacy, which has contributed to a background in advocacy and development of skills in activism work. With a strong desire to give back to the community combined with her skills learned while participating in AACI (Asian Americans for Community Involvement), she is excited to serve this community as a part of the District 4 team. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and biking.

I believe in compensating our interns fairly for their time and dedication. By providing a stipend, we ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their participation and enable them to focus wholeheartedly on their responsibilities.

Who's making a big difference in our community? A great teacher, business owner, a police officer who goes beyond the call of duty. Maybe there's someone spending their free time organizing creek clean-ups or blanket drives for the unhoused... If you've got someone special in your neighborhood, let us know by nominating them to be a District Hero!
