Voyageur Council Badge Fundraiser
Hello! My name is Sam and I am a 3rd year Cub (Howler) with the 25th Nepean Scouts. For my Seonee Community Service project I designed a badge for the Voyageur Council to raise funds for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard and the Voyageur Council Scout Tree project. Profits will be donated to these initiatives. Badges make a fun addition to camp fire blankets or for trading at scouting events.

The cost for each badge is $6 which includes a donation to these initiatives. The badges can be picked up for free in Barrhaven, or can be shipped via Canada Post for a rate of $2.50 for 10 badges or less, or $6 for more than 10 badges (extra shipping charges are possible depending on size of order, this will be confirmed after order placement).

Orders can be placed by filling in this Google form: https://forms.gle/ZYSocqWXr9fbhcQr5
After placing your order, you will be contacted by email within a couple days to confirm your order and I will provide further payment instructions (for e-transfer). The preorder period will run until Friday, August 4th, 2023. Badges will be ready in September 2023 for return to scouting. The badge is 55.5 x 80 mm in size and is being fulfilled by Baloo's Badge Bin.

BP Guild
The 7th BP Guild (Bytown) is growing and accepting new members. It’s ideal for Scouters who want to stay involved, but don’t have the time or energy to be active with the youth. If you have left Scouting, but would like to enjoy the fellowship in a relaxed environment, you are welcome to join us as well. We do welcome active leaders as well.

The Guild meets monthly from September to June at Scout HQ in Ottawa. We help out the Scouts Canada National Museum, and are looking to plan new activities for the future. We have members with ages ranging from 26 to 90; you must be 18 or older to join.

If you want to know more, head over to https://7thbpguildbytown.ca/
You can send us a message there, or via email at 7thcanadianbpguild@gmail.com

After digging deep, Voyageur Council has found it’s new root for Scoutrees!

We are looking for Senior Youth to help our Scoutree Coordinator to grow our new plan! This is an ideal opportunity for youth looking for a project to complete their Top Section Award or other community projects. While the main focus will be in the Ottawa area, there are other opportunities for all youth!

If you have any youth interested who are wanting to branch out, please reach out to Barrett Caya at barrett.caya@3rdkanata.ca and Brittiny Catalano at Brittiny.catalano@scouts.ca for more.

Stay tuned, you wood not be-leaf what we have come up with!
World Brotherhood Camporee 2023 Cancelled

We sincerely regret to inform you that after much discussion, the Camp Committee has made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel this year’s camp.

We understand how frustrating this decision is, especially after such a long delay in getting national event approval and registration open. We are deeply sorry. Unfortunately based on current and projected registration numbers, we are nowhere near the number required to break even with our budget. Further, the low registration numbers would have compromised the programming, badge-trading, and atmosphere that makes Brotherhood so special.

For those who have already registered, an email has already been sent to the contact email provided at registration, and a full refund will be issued directly to the payment card provided at registration. If you did not receive this email, please reach out to our registration team at registrar@brotherhoodcamporee.ca. Please allow at least a week for the refund to be processed.

We are taking what we’ve learned from this year and applying it to our 2025 event and camp planning process. We look forward to seeing you on the American side for 2024 and welcoming you back to the Canadian Brotherhood Camporee in 2025.

Sincerely,
World Brotherhood Camporee

Scouters' Clubs!
Voyageur Council has started new Scouters’ Networks! They will be a monthly get-together for each Section (i.e. Colony Scouters, Pack Scouters, etc.) that will be running in a facilitated, virtual format. We hope to facilitate the sharing of great adventure ideas with Scouters and conduct mutual planning of events for youth in that age group as well as to suggest training activities for Scouters.
We are still looking for back up facilitators so that no one is stuck if they have a conflict. If you are interested in this role, contact Brittiny Catalano at Brittiny.catalano@scouts.ca
YLT Mobile Workshop Team
In an effort to build confident and well-rounded youth leaders, and emphasize youth-led in all sections and programs, we are looking to build upon the Youth Training Framework, with a team that aids and procures the implementation of Youth Leadership Training (YLT) in group or section programming in Voyageur Council, from Beavers all the way up to Venturers.

We are looking for Enthusiastic Venturer/Rover aged youth who are interested in being part of this team, and are willing to take on a mentoring and support role, to help guide youth into being great leaders.

If you are interested, please contact our CYC at Cadence.James@scouts.ca
Rural Ottawa Youth Mental Health Collective
Do you run a Scout Troop, Venturer Company, or Rover Crew in rural Ottawa? Would your Group be interested in learning about mental health topics? We want to partner with you! The Rural Ottawa Youth Mental Health Collective (ROYMHC) is a collective impact project consisting of 11 partner organizations invested in the mental wellbeing of youth living within the rural wards of Orleans East-Cumberland, Orleans South-Navan, Osgoode, Rideau-Jock, and West Carleton. ROYMHC works to provide a stronger safety net for youth if/when they face mental health challenges, through education, connecting youth with local mental health services, and removing barriers that prevent youth from accessing necessary services. Through the use of surveys and a Youth Advisory Committee, ROYMHC is committed to ensuring that all workshops are relevant to the needs and interests of Ottawa’s rural youth.

Our workshops are free of charge and facilitated by a local clinical mental health professional. Tailored to the interests of your specific group, our workshops include a presentation on a topic related to mental health, a recreational activity, and food! For more information please contact Meagan Ann Gordon at meagan@ruralOttawayouth.ca or visit our website www.ruralOttawayouth.ca. Ages 12-24 (although all Troop members are welcomed to participate).
