Concerts at the Cove Continues This Week!

The Concerts at the Cove series continues today and every Thursday at 6:00 PM until August 10th. Join us as we come together to embrace the summer vibes and unforgettable evening of music. The public is encouraged to arrive car-free, bring low-back beach chairs, ground covers or blankets and picnics. If you are planning to bring dinner, please remember to shop local!

Tonight's Performance:

Coronado Big Band

Join us TONIGHT to experience the magic of the Coronado Big Band and let the sounds of San Diego's finest swing ensemble transport you to an era of unforgettable melodies and infectious rhythms. The Coronado Big Band, San Diego's premier 16-piece ensemble, will bring the timeless charm of big band jazz to the Cove Summer Series!

Get ready to kick up your heels at the Concert at the Cove series next Thursday as Brawley takes the stage! Community Advisory: Solana Beach Triathlon

The Solana Beach Triathlon and Duathlon returns this Sunday, July 30th. This community event is expecting 900 participants with an additional 200 spectators. All residents should prepare for road closures this weekend. Please consider planning your route accordingly and allowing extra travel time. Road closures for the event are as follows:


Road Closure on Sat. July 29 - Pre-Race Expo:

  • South Acacia Street, from Plaza Street to Dead End, at 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM


Road Closures on Sun. July 30 - Triathlon:

  • South Acacia Street, from Plaza Street to Dead End, at 4:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Hwy 101 (northbound), from Via De La Valle to Las Olas, at 6:45 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Hwy 101 (southbound), from Lomas Santa Fe to Via De La Valle, at 6:30 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Lomas Santa Fe, from Cedros Ave to Hwy 101, at 5:00 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Plaza Street, from South Sierra Ave to Hwy 101, at 5:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Smart Cycling Classes

The Smart Cycling Program is a great opportunity to learn how to ride your bike safely! The program is offered in 2 sessions. The Classroom Session orients you to best cycling practices, followed by a Road Session where you put what you learned in the classroom to practice. The curriculum is certified by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) and taught across the USA. Your instructors have been certified by the LAB to teach Smart Cycling. Currently all classes are offered free and the next Classroom Session, offered via Zoom, is August 1st at 6:00 PM. The second part, the Road Session, will be offered on August 5th at 9:00 AM.

Shakespeare's "As You Like It" Courtyard Show

Experience Shakespeare's enchanting comedy "As You Like It" for FREE at the La Colonia Courtyard on August 3rd, 4th, and 5th at 5:30 PM. This delightful tale of banishment, love, forgiveness, and family reunion comes to life in picturesque settings. Don't miss this 90-minute, PG-rated performance, as talented students ages 12-19 from North Coast Repertory Theatre bring Shakespeare's words to vibrant life. Let the magic of the Bard sweep you away as we celebrate love, laughter, and the joy of theater. This program is brought to you FREE through the City’s Community Grant Program.

Beach Blanket Movie Night

Save the date for the annual Beach Blanket Movie Night (BBMN) being held on Saturday, August 12th, from 6-10 PM. Get ready to bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and head on down to Fletcher Cove Park for a fun-filled evening and a movie under the stars! The evening begins with live music by Jimmy’s Buffet, followed by the feature presentation "Lilo and Stitch". Plenty of refreshments will be available, including pizza, popcorn, cookies, and brownies. As always, there will be a large prize give-away with big-ticket items and much more!

Clean Energy Alliance Seeking Applicants for Community Advisory Committee

Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) has formed a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise CEA’s Board of Directors, as directed. The CAC provides feedback on CEA programs and implementation, acts as a liaison between the Board and the community and serves as a forum for community input. The CAC membership consists of two appointees from each CEA member agency and one Board Alternate. Applications for the CAC are being accepted through July 31, 2023 for the City of Solana Beach (one vacancy for term through 2025).

Public Meetings

City Council meetings are held in-person in the Council Chambers at City Hall. All meetings are also subject to cancellation. Please refer to the City's Public Meetings page for updates, meeting schedules, directions on submitting a public comment, or for more information

City Council Summer Break

A reminder that the July 26th and August 9th Council meetings are cancelled for the summer break and the next regularly scheduled council meeting is August 23rd. Always check the City’s website for any Special meetings that might be scheduled.
