Dear Friends of Teen Services –
May is already wrapping up and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work our teens put in to make Cowboy Cab such a success. Whether it was helping at registration, serving food, or answering questions, these intrepid teens rolled up their sleeves, jumped in and got to work. As you will see below, even with the school year winding down our teens have been as busy as ever this month, still participating in Ready to Work, LOCA, and getting ready for college, a new career, or whatever they set their minds to!

I’m excited to share that several of our LOCA teens catered the Impact100 Grants celebration, and every teen came in on a mission to provide an unforgettable lunch with food that could only be described as absolutely delicious! We were also very grateful to attend this wonderful event as a grant recipient as Impact100 awarded Boys & Girls Clubs and Teen Services with nearly $25,000 to support our shared mental health program.
We had a record-setting Cowboy Cab this past Saturday, May 21st. There were a few challenges, but what was clear among the 270 guests was that we have a deep passion for the teens of Sonoma Valley and the work Teen Services does to support them. We are humbled and grateful for the support of so many who are committed to making an impact and being a part of changing lives for so many teens.
Until next time, thank you for supporting Teen Services and making it possible for us to provide hope and opportunity for so many deserving youths.
With Gratitude,

LOCA teens from the Impact100 Grants Celebration.
The teens from the Lovin' Oven Culinary Academy catered the Impact100 Grants Celebration which we were able to attend as the grant recipients for both the Boys & Girls Clubs and Teen Services with nearly $25,000 to support our shared mental health program!
Our teens showed up ready to go, confident, and 100% ready to do a great job.

Back to Back RTW
This Spring gave us the opportunity to return to the High School campuses and bring our Ready to Work program directly to teens at school. Between March and April we had two courses to help teens prepare for summer jobs, including teens from Creekside High who were able to join in. Altogether, 34 teens completed the Ready to Work Program this spring, having the opportunity to interview for jobs and also taking part in the SVHS job fair that took place on May 11th. Teens had their resumes ready to go and had the confidence to jump into on-the-spot interviews with about 15 employers! All in all, we’ve held 5 courses since last August, and this summer will start a new cycle for teens in the valley to become Ready to Work!

Scholarships!
This year we have 22 teens graduating from Sonoma Valley High School and Creekside High. Many of these students have met with our post-secondary team to outline their plans and review their financial aid packages and we are proud to say that 100% of our graduating seniors will be leaving the program with a Post-Secondary Education plan.
On another high note, 13 of our Seniors will be awarded scholarships at Senior Awards on May 26th. We are proud to say that we are awarding over $20,000 to Seniors attending Trade Schools, 2-Year schools, 4-Year universities, and even entering the workforce!

The school year is ending soon, and our program is shifting gears and getting ready for the summer. We’re excited about College Tours, Job Site Tours, and fun Field Trips that will give our teens the chance to explore the world around them, and give them a look at all the opportunities available to them.
|
|
|
We have a Ready to Work scheduled in late July, which will help our teens get prepared for a summer job, and we’ll also be introducing a new Drivers Ed beginner’s course. The program is not a behind-the-wheel class, but rather a class meant to help our teens with the online course through the DMV’s site and more fully prepare them for the exams they’ll need to take to get their permit or license.
Finally, Erin will be very busy this summer with our Lovin’ Oven program! With a new group coming in to cover sanitation and knife skills, we’ll be ramping up the work being done in the kitchen. The teens will be the stars as we continue to work in the community showing off their catering skills!
