A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | |
July 25th, 2023
Dear Colleague,
We hope you are having a restful summer (if you are in the northern hemisphere).
This newsletter outlines several new activities and opportunities that may be of interest to you and your networks.
First, the portal to submit panels, abstracts and register for CUGH2024 is open. Please note; our free, virtual global health week, will run from October 30th to November 3rd. This is open to all, and we encourage anyone in the world to send a submission to hold a virtual session.
We recently held two webinars with colleagues from AFREhealth. The first was on building LMIC-LMIC partnerships to address development challenges and the second described how to strengthen training opportunities in low-resource settings using our capacity-strengthening platform (www.cughcapacitybuilding.org).
We just created a new CUGH Young Global Health Professional Network. This will be a platform for networking, where we will delve into practical issues faced by early and mid-career global health practitioners and students. It is open and free to anyone under age 40 who is working in global health and development. Sign up now.
Check out the new Global Health Educator’s Community (GHECo) led by Dr. Katherine Jacobson and Dr. Caryl Waggett. This is a practical effort that will address issues faced by global health educators.
We just released our annual call-out for new CUGH committee and subcommittee members. If you’re a CUGH member and are interested in serving on one of these groups, please submit your name through the portal. It’s a great opportunity to work with colleagues around the world to strengthen the global health field and address many global challenges.
As always, please share this newsletter widely.
Best wishes,

Keith Martin, MD, PC
Executive Director

CROWDSOURCING RESEARCH QUESTIONS
We have a great opportunity to do a better job of connecting real-world problems with research capabilities. CUGH created this online tool to bridge that gap. Organizations, governments, NGOs, and companies can post funded research questions (high- or middle-income nations) or unfunded questions (low-income nations) on this site. Researchers interested in doing this work, especially those working on their Masters or PhD degrees are encouraged to contact the person listed in requests posted here.
