Hepatitis B Infection Control in Healthcare Settings

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) is offering a series of webinars and trainings to support Tribal healthcare workers in understanding and implementing infection control measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The webinars and training will cover topics on infection prevention and control standards and measures for hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) processes, mask use and reuse, cleaning and disinfection, and sharps safety, including needle sticks.


Join us on Wednesday, July 26, as Dr. Janet Glowicz shares the "how" and the "why" behind infection control in healthcare settings to prevent the spread of Hepatitis B.


Learning Objectives: 

  • Describe infection control precautions for Hepatitis B in clinical settings.
  • Discuss crisis communications necessary when a cluster of cases of viral hepatitis develops.

Dr. Janet Glowicz is a Nurse Infection Preventionist with Project Firstline at the CDC Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion. Dr. Glowicz has practiced infection prevention in outpatient settings and community and academic hospitals. Janet has served as the Hand Hygiene in Healthcare Settings subject matter expert at the CDC.
