Just this month, you supported 46 of our neighbors by providing them with homes in our safe shelters and transitional apartments. Your support goes far beyond shelter... you ensure that they have access to tools and resources to help them break the cycle of homelessness.

Our guests are thriving in the S4 Program, thanks to YOU!

As we embark on the third week of our Money Fundamentals Class, led by the dedicated Mrs. Cyndy Klinger, our guests are gaining valuable skills in personal finance management. This course is designed to equip participants with essential budgeting techniques and financial literacy that can transform their economic stability. The enthusiasm among our residents has been inspiring, as they engage with the material and share insights with one another. Just a week ago, we found LaToya sitting at the kitchen table with William, a newer guest at Evelyn's Place, sharing her own tried and true tips and tricks on how to build up credit!

In addition to the Money Fundamentals class, our Untangling Relationships class has now reached its seventh week. This program provides crucial support for residents navigating complex interpersonal dynamics. Participants have reported positive changes in their relationships, emphasizing the importance of communication and understanding in their journeys toward stability and healing. We are thrilled that Mr. Devon Hainey, a branch leader from Truist Bank, will be joining us to share his financial expertise with our residents. His visit promises to be a valuable opportunity for our guests to ask questions, learn from a seasoned professional, and enhance their financial knowledge and skills.

With support from TIS Case Managers, Wendy, one of our newest residents, recently started a job at the Tidewater Inn as a Hostess and Night Auditor! Several residents are meeting with their case managers to graduate to one of our 17 transitional apartments. Many guests have demonstrated commitment to their budgeting goals and prioritizing necessary expenses over wants.

Among the individuals and families who have graduated to Transitional Housing stage of their recovery, one family has transitioned out of the S4 program and successfully acquired their own housing!

Thank you for making all of these successes possible. You are changing lives every single day!

We need your help with events!

Volunteering with us is a rewarding experience and a powerful way to demonstrate your commitment to social responsibility and community support.

Thanks to your support, Talbot Interfaith Shelter surpassed our $75,000 goal for our Summer Appeal fundraiser! This remarkable achievement highlights the generosity and commitment of local residents and businesses who believe in our mission to provide shelter and support for those in need. Each contribution, no matter the size, has made a significant impact, allowing us to expand our services and reach even more individuals and families facing hardship.

September has been an eventful month for Team TIS! We received a slew of donations from the Wish List Wednesday outreach for our Amazon Wish List, and are so grateful to community members like Linda Elben-Adams for their reliable support every month. A ton of supporters showed up to Doc's Sunset Grille for our Sunset Sip & Support to raise funds for the shelter, where guest bartender Father Nash and surprise emcee Paul Berry teamed up to engage and inform attendees about homelessness on the Mid-Shore!

Our guests are blessed daily with delicious meals, prepared with love by our dedicated volunteers and shared around the dinner table with gratitude and joy. Our house sitters continue to provide relief and stability for our hard-working staff. Our wonderful partners at Rise Up Coffee Roasters once again gifted the shelters with delicious coffee beans, warming our guests' hearts and fueling them for Success!

TIS' maintenance staff Will and Jesse have installed a brand new donated kitchen table (it's huge!), as well as a new refrigerator at Evelyn's Place. The dream team also completed a reorganization of inventory and basement cleaning at Easton's Promise - an impressive effort if you're not familiar with our shelter storage area!

Take a look at the slide show below to see just a few of our Team TIS highlights from the month of September!
