Upcoming Guest Speaker

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast provides a positive, healthy learning environment for children, and it’s what the Santa Ana location has done locally since 1941. With each year that passes, their Club curriculum takes progressively longer strides toward strengthening the academic aptitude, physical fitness, health awareness, and career ambitions of its members, preparing them to graduate high school with a plan for their futures.

Today, the youth of Central Orange Coast are growing up with extraordinary opportunities, some of which also present uncharted risks. With more than 200,000 youth under the age of 18 within our reach in the Central Orange Coast region, we are called to do everything we can to help as many as possible reach greatness.

Youth Program: Interact Club & RYLA

Our club sent two high school students to RYLA camp this past weekend, April 11-13. Students from all across the Rotary District went up in buses to Idylewild. Below are the letters our campers sent to us after their trip:

⭐️

Hi, my name is Olivia Martinez and I am a sophomore at Legacy College Prep in SA. This is my first leadership camp and I am grateful for the opportunity given to me. My experience in the rope course and all the deep talks I had with my group were incredible. I loved the spirit that RYLA had; it was something I had never experienced before, and it will always stay with me. It was so fun! I loved everything about it, from the good food to the engaging activities. Each activity was connected to leadership, which really helped me discover more about myself. The specific exercises made me reflect on my personality traits, and I was able to uncover things I never knew about myself. Overall, my experience at RYLA was super amazing, and I hope to have the opportunity to return next year! Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Hi, my name is Ashley Martinez, and I am a sophomore at Legacy College Prep. I was honored to be a part of RYLA. RYLA wasn't just any camp, it was an incredible experience that taught me so much about leadership, teamwork, and myself. I discovered new qualities within me and gained a deeper appreciation for traits I had never given much thought to before. The activities at RYLA really helped me understand the value of teamwork. I learned how powerful it is to bring different perspectives together to solve problems and achieve goals. I also realized how important communication is, and how paying attention to details can be both crucial and helpful in many situations. This camp pushed me out of my comfort zone. I talked to new people, built strong bonds, and truly enjoyed connecting with others. One of the things I loved most was the camp spirit everyone was so energetic, positive, and welcoming. It created an environment where we all felt connected and supported.

My favorite activity was the ropes course. It was challenging, exciting, and a great reminder of what I’m capable of when I push myself to try new things. Overall, my experience at RYLA was amazing. I’m so grateful for the opportunity, and I truly hope I can return next year—not just to learn more, but to help new campers feel the same joy and growth that I did!

⚙️The Rotary Club of Santa Ana is helping launch two new Interact Clubs! One at Century High School and a second at Legacy College Prep. Our youth program is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders. You can play a vital role by volunteering as an Interact Advisor, leading as a Club Youth Chair, or providing crucial financial support. Learn how your contribution directly impacts the lives and development of these young individuals. Our program provides mentorship, skill-building workshops, and opportunities for community involvement. Help us raise $5,000 to fund scholarships and RYLA summer leadership camp. Volunteer Opportunities

Hope Builders

Monthly we conduct Virtual Mock Interviews where volunteers help young adults practice their interviewing skills and build confidence in their job search. Mock interviews allow volunteers to help trainees prepare for their future careers. By participating, volunteers provide invaluable feedback and support that can significantly enhance their interview skills and career readiness. On average we need approximately 25 volunteers per session. We are currently recruiting for the following dates for Virtual Mock Interviews:

Virtual mock interviews are conducted over Zoom. We begin with Hope Builders staff conducting a brief orientation with volunteers. Volunteers are then assigned to individual breakout rooms with trainees for mock interviews. Each interview lasts 20 minutes and volunteers will interview 3 trainees. (Sample questions are provided) We kindly ask that we receive RSVP's 1 week prior to each session.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP DUES

We’d like to take a moment to discuss our options to submit membership dues: on a quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis. If you’re able, we encourage you to consider paying in advance, as it can help with planning our club budget. The club pays your dues on your behalf six months in advance.

In December, Nancy, our dedicated Club Treasurer diligently submitted our membership dues to Rotary International (RI) for the period covering September to December 2024 and January to June 2025, following RI's guidelines. Dues were also sent to District 5320, totaling $20 per month/per member, which fuels programs, training, and events. For over 100 years, Rotary has continued to be a well-respected non-profit organization doing good locally and around the world!

At this time, we warmly invite you to submit your membership dues for April, May, and June. Let’s continue to enjoy the benefits of membership and remain in good standing. Please remember that in June, our Treasurer will be submitting dues for July through December to RI and to District 5320.

We truly value your ongoing membership and the incredible support you provide to District 5320 and Rotary International’s initiatives. Your commitment makes such a meaningful impact in our community and internationally.

Thank you for your continued support. We appreciate you!
