Welcome to Our RCHS Newsletter!

Fall has begun, and as cooler temperatures arrive comes an opportunity to explore nature and immerse yourself in the spirit of thankfulness. We encourage you to wake up each morning with at least one reason you are thankful.

"I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." - Psalm 9:1

We hope you enjoy our Fall newsletter edition, and we also ask that you pray a special prayer for those who were in the path of Hurricane Helene last night.

Blessings,

Maryum Boyd

Update on Fall 2024 Programs

Off to a great start!

Our classes began September 14 and are off to a great beginning! We have four programs this semester and we have had a total of 114 students register!

Pre-Apprentice Update

The Pre-Apprentice Trades classes were the first to begin and were at max capacity after the first weekend. Our two electrical instructors, Marty Reed and Steve Lyons, returned this semester as well as our plumbing instructor, Mick Ambrose.

Omar Zamora with Pro Veterans Plumbing will also be volunteering his time to assist Mick on some class days. Jose Zamora, the co-owner, came on the first day for an introduction and to explain their partnership with River City Hope Street. Our students will be blessed tremendously from their leadership and experience!

Citizenship & ESL Update

Our Citizenship & ESL programs kicked off well also! We have four levels of Adult ESL from Basic to Advanced and two class times students can attend, Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. We've had 74 students register representing 20 countries!

Half of our instructors are returning and the other half are new with a wealth of experience in teaching/instructing.

While our Pre-Apprentice programs are no longer accepting registrations, our Citizenship & ESL programs have a rolling registration since classes run through December 10/11. If you know someone who can benefit from either of these programs, please have them visit www.rivercityhope.org/classes.
