Treat Yourself to Assessment!

Hello, my Student Services assessment friends!

I'm excited to continue working with you all this semester as well as welcome some new folks to Student Services outcomes assessment!

Some quick updates:

  • Student Services assessment documents for Fall 2023 are due Friday, December 15.
  • With our off-site review for SACSCOC Reaffirmation of Accreditation around the corner, it is especially important that assessment documents are submitted by the deadline as these will be included and highlighted in the Compliance Certification narrative for 8.2.c.
  • We encourage you to register for our Fall 2023 Student Services Charrettes (details below).
  • Still feeling slightly tricked by assessment? IAA is here to support you! Overwhelmingly, 1:1 meetings were identified as the most useful in our Student Services Experience Pulse, and those opportunities will continue! See appointment availability or reach out for additional times to chat about assessment document support or feedback, overcoming challenges, survey review, strategies for engaging stakeholders, and more! My booking page is now available on the Student Services Assessment website as well as in my email signature.

Hope you enjoy the Halloween season, and please don't be afraid to reach out!

UPCOMING EVENTS

IAA is holding Student Services Charrettes in November to provide an opportunity for units to receive peer feedback and learn more about Student Services Outcomes assessment across the university. To help us prepare for these events, please use this Google form to indicate which charrette event listed below works best for you.

Note: IAA is transforming the charrette experience based on your feedback. Rather than bringing the draft of your assessment document, please bring copies of tables or figures summarizing preliminary data for Fall 2023.

We're Listening!

Key takeaways from our Student Services Experience Pulse

(11 responses):

  • Bulletin distribution frequency should be left as is (amazingly, all responses in agreement!) but bulletins could be slightly more engaging and shorter.
  • 1:1 meetings are the most useful.
  • Overall, there is a desire to spread a culture of continuous improvement and assessment within departments and engage various stakeholder groups.
  • Slight modifications suggested for charrettes to have additional discussion.

Based on your feedback, IAA will strive to improve bulletin length and engagement; make it easier to schedule 1:1 meetings; replace Ready, Set, Action workshops with flexible workshops to engage a variety of stakeholders and assessment experience levels; and focus more time during the charrette on generating ideas for future improvement based on the results.

And our Student Services Experience Pulse prize winner is....

REMEMBERING PAUL BRADLEY, JR.

In June 2023, we tragically lost Paul Bradley, Jr., Assistant Director for the Office of Student Activities on the Armstrong Campus. Paul had an extraordinary spirit, incredible compassion for others, and an unmatched ability to teleport himself across campus. Paul was dedicated to students' success and was a true champion of assessment.

Institutional Assessment and Accreditation (IAA) works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure the quality of the programs and educational experiences offered by the university, addressing the unique assessment needs of courses, departments, colleges, or units through individual and group consultations, professional development workshops, recommendations for technology implementation, and best practice reference materials.
