A Free Concert Tuesday Evening
We have a special musical treat in store this week!

Come hear the group that has--during its 107-year-history--performed at least three times for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, sung at the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., performed at President Jimmy Carter's inauguration, participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics closing ceremonies, and sung at Super Bowl XXVIII.

clocksOne Great Hour of Sharing
Supporting Mission Locally and Globally
Since 1949, Presbyterians and millions of other Christians around the world have been receiving the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering as they seek to share God's love with people in need.

At Fourth Church, this annual offering, which is received during Lent and also on Easter Sunday, supports the following programs--and, in so doing, touches the lives of those in need, responds to injustice, provides shelter, and feeds the hungry, both here in our city and around the world.

Presbyterian Hunger Program, which takes action to alleviate hunger, care for creation, and address the systemic causes of poverty so all may be fed

Self-Development of People, which partners with communities responding to their experiences of oppression, poverty, and injustice and educates Presbyterians about the impact of these issues

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, which works alongside communities as they recover and find hope after the devastation of natural or human-caused disasters and provides support for refugees

Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center, which annually meets the basic human needs of 1,800 persons who are hungry, homeless, or in transition

Chicago Lights Tutoring, which encourages 400 students living in under-resourced neighborhoods to graduate from high school and pursue higher education and meaningful careers

Fourth Church Meals Ministry, which distributes bag lunches each week, Tuesday through Thursday, to 200 people and serves a hot meal to approximately 130 guests on both Sunday and Monday nights

To make a "One Great Hour of Sharing" gift, you can
  • make a gift online at www.bit.ly/FPCgiving
  • use the envelopes in the pew racks
  • write "Lenten Offering" on the memo line of a check made payable to Fourth Presbyterian Church and mailed to

sermonA Home for Used Bicycles
Spring Cleaning for a Difference
As you're doing spring cleaning in your garage, basement, or storage area, know that we have a place for any bicycles--including those needing repair!--bicycle parts, helmets, or jerseys you might be looking to get rid of.

Our World Mission and Social Justice Committee is working with the nonprofit organization Working Bikes to host a bicycle drive at the church on Saturday morning, April 14.

Working Bikes will collect the bicycles dropped off that day, repair those in need, and redistribute the bicycles to those locally and around the world for whom having this means of transportation translates into life-changing access to employment, education, and health care.

Friday Evening, March 16
We're delighted to welcome back for our March Family Night one of Chicago's best children's magicians. The Great Scott is a Chicagoland magician who has appeared on CBS, FOX, NBC, and WGN--and we're excited to see what he has up his sleeve for us this year!

We'll begin with family dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. in Borwell Dining Room, and then we'll head over to Anderson Hall at 6:00 p.m. for an hour of magic! The show should be fun for both children and their parents alike, so, families, we hope you'll stop on by for a family night of laughter and fun.
