LIMESTONE & BRICK RESTORATION UPDATE

As was shared previously, Simpson Plastering has completed its work restoring all exterior limestone, repairing all leaks in the brick, and adding metal siding to the exterior of the upper gym. The only step that remains is the installation of brand-new exterior metal doors for the transept, the double doors under the sanctuary, the Aldersgate wing, and the Asbury wing. The doors are ready, however there has been a delay in the shipment of the door closing mechanisms. As soon as they arrive, the doors will be installed.

STAINED GLASS UPDATE

On May 7, the stained glass restoration phase of our project began. Olivier Fournier of Willet & Hauser was our assigned craftsmen, and he was done an amazing job cleaning and recementing the exterior surface of the stained glass, installing the window frames, and installing the ¼” float glass protective covering. As of today, Friday, June 28, 2024, this project is complete and our windows look absolutely stunning!

LANDSCAPING UPDATE

Now that campus-wide projects requiring heavy machinery and scaffolding are complete, we are ready to begin the Landscaping phase of the Restoration Project. In the last update, we shared a sneak peek at the beautiful designs created by Julie Stephens of Harbarger Landscape Design. In today’s update, we are thrilled to share with you a colored variation of the front of our campus graciously gifted to Trinity by Julie that truly exhibits what a change this landscape will make to the beauty and hospitality of our campus.

In April, bid packages were shared with seven landscape companies, with bid offers reviewed at the June Trustees meeting. We are so excited to share that Southern Scape of Madison, AL, provided a bid that makes it possible for Trinity to relandscape our entire campus at one time, add needed drainage system extensions, and build a wall to screen our permanent dumpsters between Wesley Hall and the Mission Wing. Owner Greg Shaw and Terrell Suggs have been nothing short of a pleasure to work with already, and they have truly gone above and beyond to make the scope of this project possible for us. Excluding the wall where the new Welcome Entrance will be, relandscaping will begin in mid-September when the weather is most accommodating for the new plants. In the meantime, Southern Scape is assessing our sprinkler system for repair and expansion to ensure all new landscaping will be properly irrigated.

WELCOME ENTRANCE UPDATE

Stephen Ward & Associates is working with civil, structural, and electrical engineers to design the blueprints for our new Welcome Entrance, which will include doors facing Airport Road that lead into our Main Office on the east side of our campus (near Door 1). This project has taken more time than anticipated as the small scale of the project has made it challenging to secure consulting engineers. As soon as blueprints are complete, we will request bids for the project from various contractors.

EXTRA: LIGHT POLES & POSTS

You may have noticed that the light poles and posts around our campus have experienced a significant amount of wear and tear. Additionally, we have multiple PVC downspouts around the building that create an eyesore against our beautifully restored limestone and brick. After receiving quotes from three vendors, the Trustees have contracted with Luxe Painting of Huntsville, AL to pressure wash and heavy sand-scrape, prime, and paint (16) light poles, (9) lamp posts, the New Room exterior cross, and all PVC downspouts. This work is anticipated to begin in the next month.

As always, thank you for your generous support for the caretaking and restoration of our magnificent facility and campus. It is truly a gift given to us by God and a resource worth preserving for the continuation of kingdom-building ministry.
