FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Colorific 2024

Mayo Performing Arts Center

Art Upstairs Gallery

The New Jersey Photography Forum will present “Colorific” in the Art Upstairs Gallery at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, NJ from September 17 – October 15, 2024. This exhibit of photographic images is an explosion of color with works ranging from traditional to abstract designs. It is an artistic exploration by fine art photographers of the power that color plays in creative expression.

This annual exhibit reopens the Art Upstairs Gallery for the new theater season. It features thirty-two selected works by NJ Photography Forum artists. There will be a reception for the exhibit on Sunday, September 22 from 4pm to 6pm. The reception is free and open to the public and will be serving refreshments.

Fourteen artists have been selected including: Jamin Chen, Montville; Cindy Coppa, Elizabeth;  Ken Curtis, Califon; Ralph Greene, Woodland Park; Theresa Hood, Hamilton Township, PA; John Markanich, West Milford; Charlann Meluso, Berkeley Heights; Charles Miller, Ringoes; Nancy Ori, Berkeley Heights; Phyllis Raffelson, Cliffside Park; Skip Williams, Westfield; Russ Wills, Plainfield; and Allan Wood, Maplewood.

“Starting the exhibition and show season at MPAC is something our Photography Forum members look forward to being part of each year.  They shoot and process possible images throughout the year to submit to the jury for this exhibit,” says Nancy Ori, director of the NJPF. “This is always one of the most beautiful exhibits that we do all year. It is sure to excite and challenge the viewers.”

This year, The New Jersey Photography Forum celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding. The group is dedicated to furthering the interests of professional and serious photographers living or working in the Metro area. Under the direction of Nancy Ori, the NJPF has grown to be the largest and most recognized group of fine art exhibiting photographers in the state.

The monthly meetings are currently held virtually using Zoom and will return to quarterly in-person sessions at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit after the new year. Meeting attendees are encouraged to share expertise and advance their skills. At each meeting, member and guest photographers have an opportunity to share their work as well as have access to a wide variety of current creative and technical information through informal presentations and demonstrations. Exhibition possibilities within the fine art community are constantly being explored with the group producing as many as a dozen exhibits each year at various venues. These opportunities have become an invaluable resource for photographers interested in becoming fine art exhibitors and curators.

The Mayo Performing Arts Center is located at 100 South Street, Morristown, NJ. It is a highly recognized center for the arts and provides a year-round series of performances featuring international, national, and local artists. It also houses two visual art galleries that feature works by local art organizations and individual artists from around the region, as well as those with international recognition.

This exhibit is open to ticket holders on nights of a performance. The Gallery is also open from 12:00 to 2:00pm on Tuesdays or by appointment during normal business hours. To make an appointment call (973) 539-0345 ext.6701.
