6th Annual Washington Goes Purple
2024 Call for Artists
DEADLINE: August 9, 2024
| |
|
"Happiness by Choice: ReStory Your Life" exhibit will serve as a platform to explore themes of recovery from substance use and mental health challenges through the transformative power of art.
The journey of recovery is deeply personal, often marked by moments of struggle, resilience, and ultimately, triumph. Through "Happiness by Choice," the exhibit aims to celebrate the courage and resilience of individuals who have embarked on this journey, as well as to challenge stigma and promote understanding surrounding these important issues.
Washington Goes Purple and the Washington County Arts Council invites artists from all backgrounds and experiences to submit artwork that reflects their own stories of recovery or those of others they have encountered. Whether through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, or any other artistic medium, you are encouraged to share your unique perspectives and insights on the theme of "ReStory Your Life."
This exhibit is not only an opportunity to showcase your talent and creativity but also to spark meaningful conversations and connections within our community. By sharing your artwork, you have the power to inspire hope, foster empathy, and ignite change in the way we perceive and support individuals on their journey to recovery.

Quiet Wandering
“My paintings are honed under a focused studio process and my goal of capturing a specific moment of solitude and inner-quiet surrounded in nature where a viewer’s narrative enhances their experience of the painting.
My work captures my passion for landscape and atmospheric effect, as inspired by my Italian grandfather, Gabriel. I use the painting signature "Gabriel" as a dedication to his enduring effect on my love of nature and appreciation of the natural world around me. I exhibit throughout the US in art galleries and juried exhibits.”
