Welcome, Biomedical and IT Classes of 2023

In January, two new classes of Biomedical and Information Technology students, 36 in total, began their 9-month career training journey. Recruiting for YouthBuild’s Spring 2023 Cohort!

YouthBuild Just A Start is now accepting applications for the next cohort! If you or a young person you know is interested in learning more, please invite them to join an upcoming informational session. The discussion will include our workforce and academic programming, eligibility requirements, the application process, and more. Please direct potential applicants to our website’s inquiry form located HERE.

Upon filling out the inquiry form, you will be directed to sign up for an informational session. The next session will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at 2pm (Virtual; Zoom link will be provided) with additional dates to be announced.

What's Happening at Rindge Commons

Just A Start is building The Economic Mobility Hub at Rindge Commons, a 70,000-square-foot, mixed-use development that will bring together an education and job training center and affordable housing, as well as expand services to families spanning Cambridge and beyond. The hub, located at the intersection of Rindge Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway in North Cambridge, is adjacent to the 402 Rindge Avenue tower, Just A Start’s affordable housing development with 273 apartments. The project broke ground in July 2022 and will be completed in early 2024.

The site has been stabilized and foundation work is almost completed making room for the steel work. The elevator pits are built in, and work is underway to make the building energy efficient at the outset, starting from the bottom.

We launched a $4.25 million campaign to provide needed funding for Rindge Commons. To date, we have raised $3.55 million, 83% towards the goal. Will you help us reach the goal by giving towards the remaining $700,000? Please contact Carmen Chan, Director of Philanthropy at CarmenChan@justastart.org.
