Pace SBDC Annual Staff Training
The team from the Pace University SBDC recently attended the annual NYSBDC staff training conference in Lake Placid, New York. In addition to the team participating in engaging hands-on workshops, Pace SBDC Business Advisors Joe Peterson, Greg Callender, and Pedro Soto presented on website development, capital formation, and connecting with underserved communities, respectively. Pace SBDC team members Sandra Cely and Pedro Soto were awarded with New York State Advanced and Basic Business Advisor certification designations, respectively, and the Pace SBDC team received a recognition award for exceeding all annual metric goals. 2024 National Small Business Week
In celebration of National Small Business Week, Pace University SBDC Regional Director Andrew Flamm joined a panel headed by Congressman Dan Goldman to highlight resources available for small businesses. On the panel, Andrew had the opportunity to present alongside representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the NYC Department of Small Business Services, and the League of Conservation Voters. Pace SBDC also hosted a series of in-person and online events for National Small Business Week, covering topics including evaluating best business practices, non-disclosure agreements, crowdfunding, and website creation. NYC-Based SBDC Centers Meeting
The Pace University SBDC hosted a meeting of New York SBDC colleagues from across NYC to share best practices and strategies to enhance support for small business clients. This gathering served as an opportunity for NYSBDC staff members to collaborate, exchange insights, and deepen connections, as well as explore innovative new approaches to address the evolving needs of small businesses. Upcoming Financing Panel
The Pace University SBDC and the US Small Business Administration are hosting an in-person Small Business Financing Panel & Networking Event on Monday, July 15th at 9:00 AM. The session will include panels featuring eleven financial institutions and alternative small business lenders, who will highlight what they look for when evaluating a loan application, typical loan terms, and the documents needed to apply. LGBTQ+ Owned Business Certification
Happy Pride Month! Members of the LGBTQ+ community who own and run small businesses are encouraged to explore LGBTQ+ Owned Business Certification through the National LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, which can help entrepreneurs connect to larger businesses with supplier diversity goals. LGBTQ+ Owned Business Certification may also be used to fast-track an application for NYC M/WBE Certification. Click here to learn more on our website.

Here Studio
In November 2022, Emily Nemeth sought assistance from the Pace SBDC to help her launch "Here Studio," a photography studio in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Pace SBDC Business Advisor Pedro Soto worked with the client, focusing on market research, business planning, and financial projections. The Pace SBDC also connected Emily with Midwestern Bank, who fully funded her business with a six-figure loan. With her connections and resources provided by the SBDC, Emily has been able to overcome financial obstacles and create two new jobs.

New Member of the Team
We are delighted to welcome Alexa Lotano as our newest Pace SBDC student intern. Alexa is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business Analytics and Arts & Entertainment Management at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business. Alexa has previously worked as a Business and Partner Development Intern at The Orchard helping research and develop business partnerships, as well as a Global Digital Accounts Intern at Warner Music Group assisting in rights management on social media. Pace Small Business Poll
Pace University’s Lubin School of Business launched the Pace Business Poll in partnership with the Business Council of New York State and the Business Council of Westchester to study issues affecting downstate New York businesses. The poll is being implemented by Pace Connect, a student-run research center that is part of Pace's Center for Student Enterprise. Businesses can take the Pace Business Poll here. The deadline is June 30.
