Grant Awarded to Renovate Coral Reef Park's Trails
Coral Reef Park
We’re happy to announce that the paths at Coral Reef Park will be getting a fresh new look this year! The rubberized trails on the east side of the park near the canal will be completely renovated and any areas of concern on the asphalt trails in other sections of the park will be repaired as well. Half of the total project costs, estimated at $800,000, will be funded by a grant from the Recreational Trails Program after Village staff was successful in securing $400,000 in grant funds for the project. The Village will match with equal funding to complete the trail renovations.

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a competitive grant program administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (F-DEP) that awards funding for the development and maintenance of recreational trails, trailheads, and trailside facilities. In 2022, the Village applied for funding to renovate the rubberized and asphalt trails at Coral Reef Park. Following a review process by the grant agency, which included a presentation by staff of the proposed scope of work to the RTP Technical Advisory Committee, Palmetto Bay was selected for full funding; one of thirteen municipalities statewide.

As the project moves forward, watch for more updates from the Village.
