"Don't think that your body is YOU, think higher as if you are a puppeteer animating or bringing to life the human body." (p. 257)

"Death is not an ending but more like a returning home after a long road trip." (p. 256)

Greetings!

I'm excited to write about my favorite topic: past-life stories! Today I get to tell you about a story that had not been published before Jeffrey Keene included it in his new 2021 book, Fire in the Soul: Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero.

I first wrote about Jeffrey Keene's story from his first book, Someone Else's Yesterday: The Confederate General and Connecticut Yankee.  Keene's amazing experience of remembering  and researching his past life as Confederate General John B. Gordon began with his visit to the Civil War battlefield at Antietam.  You can find that newsletter on my website under the "My Two Cents" tab.  Look for Just Who Do We Think We Are? Vol. 1 No. 14, September 24, 2020, at www.shari-harris.com.

In his new book published last year, Keene not only adds detail to his original story, but he shares life-changing insights he has gained since the book was originally published in 2003. This is a "must read" for anyone interested in reincarnation.

AND, in this new book, he includes another convincing past life story of young Braden who began sharing memories of being in the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001 ("ground zero") in 2006 when he was barely three years old.  See my summary of Braden's story below.

Desperate for information and confirmation, Braden's mother reached out to an online past-life forum created by Carol Bowman, author of Children's Past Lives: How Past Life Memories Affect Your Child and Return From Heaven: Beloved Relatives Reincarnated Within Your Family.  Carol Bowman was the subject of Just Who Do We Think We Are? Vol. 1 No. 8, June 1, 2020.

The Reincarnation Forum (https://www.carolbowman.com/reincarnation-forum) was created as a "sanctuary where parents can share and ask questions about their own kids' past life memories." In addition, Bowman has a website (www.carolbowman.com) with an abundance of information about children's spontaneous memories of other lives, past-life regression, and past-life therapy.

Keene was a contributor to the forum and was especially valuable in Braden's case because Braden's memories were of being a firefighter. As a retired firefighter of over thirty years, Keene was able to reply to Braden's mother's questions and explain the meaning of specific terms and traditions in firefighting culture that her son was talking about.

Keene interestingly compares Braden's story to that in Greek mythology of the Phoenix rising from the ashes.  I hope you find these past-life stories in Keene's books as fascinating as I do!

Be well and enjoy your amazing life!  Choose joy!

Sending my love,

Shari

The Phoenix:  Rising from the Ashes

In Fire in the Soul: Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero, Jeffrey Keene relates the story of a young boy who begins to tell his parents about his memories of being a firefighter and of dying in the collapse of the Twin Towers in NYC on 9/11. The book includes the postings from the child's mother from 2007 to 2011 on the online past-life forum created and operated by Carol Bowman. (See the link above.)

Braden's mother wrote that when Braden was just three years old, he insisted that he "doesn't just want to be a firefighter, he is a firefighter."

Because of Braden's obsessive interest in firefighting, his mother used his desire for fire "gear" as a reward in his potty training, and he received the outfit pictured here when he accomplished the task.

Postings from Braden's mother on the forum revealed further information. In the mornings, he would put on his gear and say he was "going to work." He sometimes pretended to give a tour of his fire station, which Keene said was typically what firefighters often did. Every night, he would put on his hat and boots and go into his younger sister's room with his flashlight to inspect the area. He would then announce that the room was "all clear," and she could then go to sleep. During the day, he would often use his play ax, pretending to chop down walls because there was fire behind them.

Braden had not been exposed to 9/11 information, but when his mother read to him a Curious George book about New York City, there was a picture of the twin towers. Braden pointed at the towers and commented that "bad guys knocked those buildings down." He continued to say that "planes broke them" and he "couldn't help," because he was "stuck and tried to break through the wall because the people were calling for help." He said "people were jumping out of windows because they couldn't wait for him to get to them!" He often asked why the bad guys did that.

Braden's mother explained in her posts that Braden's tone of voice was completely different when he talked about his past life, and he sometimes laughed as if to say, "why are you asking me this--you know I know the answer." One time, he told his mother that she would really enjoy the Christmas parties at the fire station. He talked about the new fire engine that the station got for Christmas that had maps, a tv, and a boat on top of it.

Among many other pieces of information, Braden spoke of his bucket truck and stated that he rides in the bucket. He said he thinks his hat had a #3 on it and there was #33 on his truck. Keene explained that fire stations and trucks have numbers and firefighters assigned to a unit have the same numbers on their gear.

In one of her posts, Braden's mother wrote that Braden explained that he was not a firefighter but was in Fire Rescue. Keene replied that "rescue units are very hard to get into and that they are the cream of the crop--and they know they are the best of the best." Braden spoke about being a SCUBA diver, and Keene explained that many rescue company members are SCUBA divers. When Braden received a pair of swim flippers, a few months after he had learned to swim, he immediately demonstrated how scuba divers rolled into the water backwards. Keene verified that divers often enter the water that way.

Keene posted that Braden had most likely been a Lieutenant or a Captain since he spoke like a supervisor and mentioned riding in the passenger seat in the fire truck, as a supervisor would do. Braden had a whistle and explained that he often blew it to wake up the firefighters if there was a fire or they were sleeping too late. Keene related to the problem of sleepy firefighters and replied that, in his experience, supervisors often need little tricks to get late risers out of bed.

These are merely a fraction of the statements made by Braden and reported by his mother. There is, of course, many more details about Braden and his family in Keene's second book, as well as more information on reincarnation.

Using the information that Braden's mother supplied on the reincarnation forum, Keene researched a site that listed the firefighters who had died on 9/11.  In his research he eventually found a firefighter in an Emergency Rescue unit who died that day and matched the information Braden had given.  Keene felt that Braden could have been and most likely had been Lt. Kevin Donnelly, a member of FDNY Ladder Company 3.

The family chose not to make public the full name of their son or their family. They also chose not to contact the grieving Donnelly family. They did follow Jeffrey Keene's advice to keep notes of all that Braden said about that life to give him when he is older, as young children typically forget their past-life memories as they age.

Jeffrey Keene's Story

Jeffrey Keene is the retired Assistant Fire Chief in Westport, Connecticut, decorated for his outstanding service. In 1991, while vacationing with his wife in Sharpsburg, Maryland, where the Civil War battle of Antietam was fought, Keene visited the battlefield and listened to an audio tape about the battle of 1862 and the Sixth Alabama Regiment commanded by Colonel John B. Gordon. As Keene walked to a spot called the Sunken Road, he felt sudden and overwhelming emotion, described below in the book Someone Else's Yesterday written by Keene about the incident.

"A wave of grief, sadness and anger washed over me. Without warning I was suddenly consumed by sensations. Burning tears ran down my cheeks. It became difficult to breathe. I gasped for air as I stood transfixed in the old roadbed. ...[A]s these feelings passed, I found myself exhausted as if I had run a marathon. ...It was difficult getting back to the car because I felt so weak. ...I was a bit shaken to say the least and wondered at what had just taken place. ...I did not have any answers, just questions." Jeffrey Keen, Someone Else's Yesterday.

Later in a gift shop, Keene bought a magazine entitled "Civil War Quarterly: Special Edition Antietam," which he took home and put in a drawer, unread for a year and a half.  He was eventually motivated to read the magazine and in it he came across a picture of Sunken Road.  He was stunned when seeing the picture revived the same emotions he had felt at the battleground.  He also found a picture of Colonel Gordon and wrote this about it later in his book, Someone Else's Yesterday:

"I turned back to the page with the picture of the Sunken Road, and on the page across from it was another picture. This time a chill ran through me and the hair on the back of my neck stood up again. The picture was of Brigadier General John B. Gordon. The face was not unknown to me, I knew it well, I shave it every morning."

This is just the beginning of Keene's adventure in piecing together his past life.  You can read a more detailed summary in Just Who Do We Think We Are?, September 24, 2020, issue on my website or an updated and complete narrative in Fire in the Soul.  I recommend it!

"You and I chose to come here and take part in the plot now unfolding. How will it all end? I can't tell you, but you should know, if you've been paying attention so far, that we all get out alive."

My Message

I have three primary topics about which I collect authors' thoughts and which I love to share with others who are interested. I feel that the world will be more loving and inclusive when these ideas are better understood, and individuals will have more clarity about who they are and why they are here. My focus is on Reincarnation, The Law of Attraction, and The Afterlife which are expressed in my statement of belief:

Just Who Do We Think We Are?

I believe we are eternal spiritual beings who are currently

living one of our many lives on Earth and who are the co-creators

of our experiences through our thoughts and beliefs.

Just a few good news items from the September 22, 2022, issue:

Have you ever heard of the UNFPA Supplies Partnership? It's one of the most impactful, yet least known aid programs of all time, delivering contraceptives and maternal health medicine to adolescents and women around the world. Since 2008 it's prevented 89 million unintended pregnancies, 26.8 million unsafe abortions, 254,000 maternal deaths, and saved 1.6 million children.

After decades of advocacy by labour activists, Spain has passed a landmark law improving the rights of domestic workers. The new regulations, which enter into force on the 1st October 2022, will give over 370,000 domestic workers (almost all women) the right to unemployment benefits, appeal against unfair dismissal, and health and safety protections equivalent any other employed person. ILO

Youth crime has reached its lowest level on record in the United States. In 2020, there were an 424,300 arrests for violent crime involving persons younger than 18. That's 38% lower than the number of arrests in 2019, half the number of arrests from five years earlier, and 78% below the 1994 peak. Naturally, this story has been making headlines everywhere. OJJDP

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States says that concentrations of CFCs, the harmful chemicals that damage the ozone layer, have dropped by just over 50% compared to the 1980s. Scientists say it is a 'significant milestone' on the path to recovery. Euro News
