POP'S ICE CREAM

As July is National Ice Cream month, we thought this a sweet time to incorporate one of our ICE CREAM SHOP chamber members! This month we selected POP's Ice Cream Shop which is located at 13600 US HWY 1 in Roseland (same plaza as Woody's BBQ).

We had the pleasure of talking with the owner, Amy Weiss and had the tough task of sampling a few flavors on our visit where we learned many fun facts about the industry and the history of her adorable shop. Amy has an interesting background as a Licensed Veterinary Technician with extensive surgical experience. How she transitioned from tech to retail is a great story to hear when you visit and so happy she came to our little charming town!

POP's Ice Cream takes great care and effort in finding local, organic, sustainable, socially conscious, fairly traded ingredients whenever possible. Most of the ice creams are made directly on premise including her special doggie ice cream which was a big hit when we visited. Amy has been running POP's Ice Cream for the last 5 years and excited to share the unique specialties of their place:

Amy's father "Pops" is the inspiration for the shop and just celebrated his 83rd birthday in May. He still enjoys joining the grandkids in a sweet afternoon treat a few times a month!

As Pop spent many years fighting for our freedom as part of our military personnel, Amy pays it forward to all military personnel with a sweet discount when they visit.

POP's Ice Cream Shop has a wide variety of ice cream flavors but quite a few specialties we didn't expect:

27 Original Homemade Ice Cream Flavors
Sugar free | Vegan flavors | Lactose free
Italian Ices | Adult Ice Creams (infused with alcohol)
and special ice cream for Dogs

FUN "NATIONAL DAYS" IN JULY

Not a week goes by without most of us seeing an odd day celebrating something. Where do all those "Special Dates" come from and what purpose do they serve?

One of the largest collection of odd days/months/weeks can be found on NationalDayCalendar.com. From a day of remembrance or non-profit cause to a retail related food or drink item, something is being celebrated.

If you are a business professional looking to connect with new customers, utilizing one of these days can deliver a fun and approachable opportunity.

It's quite easy to incorporate the targeted dates if you are a retail owner but the dates also shed light on causes that may be in alignment with a corporate business. Think of the dates as an easy way to slip in a marketing post on your social media channels to gain attention and perhaps convert a sale. You just may be surprised how well they work at starting up a dialogue with a potential new customer!
