DEAR PARA MEMBERS,

We wish you, your families and loved ones a very happy holiday and a safe, healthy and peaceful new year.  Your support of PARA means that our all-volunteer organization has a collective voice and outreach for more than 4,100 members, their families and colleagues. Thank you very much for your continued support of PARA!

We'd like to remind you that the PARA Web site, under the excellent management of Joe SanSevero, provides a great trove of information for retired and active employees and their families.  Joe as the PARA Webmaster, and we as the PARA Board, receive inquiries for help and information that are on the PARA Web site. Here are some short cuts on hot topics:
  1. Current Issues -- We post links to news articles about major issues about the PA including the search for a new CEO, retiree concerns, and the World Trade Center and September 11, 2001;
  2. PA Benefits information -- You'll find links to UHC information, cross-over from Medicare to UHC, Social Security, the prescription drug plan, and an exclusive benefits email address for PA retirees; and
  3. Benefits Forms -- This page has links to many forms for almost every benefit form you need related to the PA and retirement.
The most recent issue of the PARA newsletter (PARA-phernalia) should have reached all of you. And did you know that the newsletter archive from Fall 1987 is also online? Check it out!

Oh, and please remember to send your 2016 PARA dues -- a very reasonable $10 per year --  and we thank all of you who contribute extra as sponors for PARA.

On behalf of the PARA Board and PARA Advisors, please accept our thanks again for your support throughout the year.

With our best wishes for a safe and happy holiday,

YOUR PARA BOARD

WHAT IS PARA?

The Port Authority Retirees Association (PARA), a not-for-profit corporation, was formed in 1989 to promote the welfare of retirees of the Port Authority (and PATH). That is accomplished by PARA's acting as spokesperson for Port Authority retirees. We foster and encourage legislation that maintains or improves our circumstances primarily as it affects the pensions of the New York State Retirement System. Our more than 4,100 members are strengthened by PARA's affiliation with the Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations (APRO) representing more than 350,000 members.
