REACH Home 2020 - 2021

Our teams are hard at work preparing to open the 6th winter REACH Home:

  • Andy is negotiating with the Coptic Christian Community to secure an agreement that will make 720 W. Main St our permanent location.

  • John Curran and Deacon Dan have been leading a number of folk in updating the physical needs in the building.

  • Deb Peiffer is busy building up the volunteers and staff who will oversee the day to day running of the shelter.

  • One of the most important things we do, through our association with McCollaborative is:
Did you know that REACH Home succeeds in placing over 40% of our guests into permanent supportive housing every year!
Volunteers are needed!

Creating supportive housing.
The Tiny Home Committee continues to work hard to develop housing for those housing deprived people whose income is at or below 30% of the AMI. They have had several positive and informative meetings this past month with Mitch Gruber and Michael Patterson City Council Representatives. Additionally Jill Wiedrick from City Zoning and Casmic Reed from Building Codes are very supportive of our project and have shared valuable information. Our biggest obstacle moving forward is to raise funding for at least Phase One of the project: $250,000. Therefore we are pursuing grants from charitable foundations.

REACH Advocacy extends a huge thank you to the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester! Our Tiny Home Village project has been highlighted in their latest E-News as a mission worthy of financial support including a link to our informational video, https://tinyhomes.reachadvocacy.org.

Perhaps your church or organization would like to help us raise funds to increase affordable housing options in the Rochester area. For every ten people in our area seeking affordable housing only three units are available. Please consider supporting our goal of “Housing Justice for All.”

Thank you for your interest and support of REACH.
