First Day Memo

August 27, 2024

Note from School Leaders

Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,

We had a great first day of school, and our team of educators at Rising Tide is excited to get the 2024-2025 school year started with our students and families.

Thanks to the many families who came to our New Student and Family Orientations and Open House events yesterday. We look forward to seeing all of you again at our Back to School Nights in a few weeks. Please keep in mind that we have our first early release day tomorrow, and that school will be closed this Friday, August 30 and Monday, September 2 for Labor Day Weekend.

As we start a new school year, we encourage all students and families to review the 2024-2025 Student Handbook. While all elements within the Student Handbook are important, we would like to direct your attention this week to the following sections:

  • Commitment to Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity (p.3)
  • Communication Between Home and School (pp.4-5)
  • Attendance and Absence Procedures (p. 6)
  • Community Expectations (pp. 13-15)
  • Prohibited Items - Including Phones and Smart Devices (p. 43-44)
  • Dress Code - (p.46)

For those new to Rising Tide, the Advisor is the primary communication link to the school for a student and their family. While the Advisor is the primary point of contact, parents/guardians are able to communicate with other teachers and school leaders at any point. This year's staff directory is available on the school's website, and each staff member has a three-digit extension to the school's main line: 508-747-2620.

Have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,

Michael O'Keefe

Head of School

Zahra Williams

Principal/Assistant Head of School

Thank You for Attending Our Open House Events Yesterday

Announcements

Important Update from the Nurse's Office

This year, we have many students with life-threatening food allergies. At the discretion of each teacher, students will be allowed to eat snacks in classrooms; however, all snacks that are consumed in classrooms must be nut-free. This includes items like Nutella or any nut butters. Students are allowed to consume food items that contain nuts for lunch except at our designated nut-free tables. For field trips, please make sure your child does not bring food items that contain nuts. Please make sure our Nurse Leader, Lisa Hughes, is aware of any allergies or medical conditions your child has so that we can make sure to meet their needs. In addition, please make sure your child has an up-to-date physical on file with the nurse. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Lisa Hughes at LHughes@risigtide.org if you have any questions. You can also call (508) 747-2620 x115.

Breakfast and Lunch at Rising Tide

Rising Tide's breakfast and lunch program, catered by the Plymouth Public Schools, offers free lunches for students each day at Rising Tide. Check out the lunch menu for the first two weeks of school here.
