The City of Oakland Park is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a tool that outlines goals and helps guide future development. We want to hear from residents and businesses on topics including public schools, conservation, recreation and open space, transportation, coastal management, and property rights. City Commission to Meet Wednesday

 

The next Oakland Park City Commission Meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting agenda is posted on the city website. Virtual participation is available through Zoom, registration ID# 857 2357 8220.

 

Public Participation

To provide public hearing or public comments virtually (limit 4 minutes), you must register by 5 p.m. on the meeting day on Zoom. Written public comments (no more than 250 words) can be submitted for the record to: publiccomments@oaklandparkfl.gov by 5 p.m. the day of the meeting. City to Break Ground on Fire Station 9 on Friday


Oakland Park is excited to announce another groundbreaking ceremony as the City continues to build for its second century. The community is invited to join us to break ground on the new Fire Station 9 on Friday, January 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at 599 Park Lane/N.E. 38th Street. Refreshments will follow the ceremony. This exciting project will provide Oakland Park with a new, modern Fire Rescue facility that will enhance public safety. Fire Station 9 is one of several bond projects under the Comprehensive Facilities Plan, part of the City’s Building Our 2nd Century initiative. The first new bond project, Phase I of City Park, opened in October 2022.

Upcoming Neighborhood Participation Meetings

 

The City facilitates a neighborhood participation meeting program to give the community an opportunity to participate early on in the planning and permitting process. Four neighborhood participation meetings are coming up in January. Please see more information on the meetings below.  


January 19 - 423 East Oakland Park Boulevard 

A potential permit applicant will host a virtual neighborhood participation meeting for Poinciana Car Wash & Repair at 423 East Oakland Park Boulevard on Thursday, January 19th, at 6:30 p.m. Click here to pre-register to join the virtual meeting. Visit the City website for more information.

January 31 - 4465 N.E. 10th Avenue

Mark Your Calendar for Soul Fest

 

Enjoy live performances of Funk, Motown, and Soul hits by The Khemistry Band at Soul Fest! This 10-member band will perform your favorite Top 40 Hits from your favorite decades. Join us for this fantastic, family-friendly event to celebrate Black History Month on Friday, February 3rd, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Jaco Pastorius Park, located at 4000 North Dixie Highway. Soul Fest will also feature kids' activities and food from local vendors. Free event parking will be available on Main Street/NE 12 Avenue. Parking is limited. Bulk Pick-Up Coming to Zone Four

 

Oakland Park offers residents bulk collection service once a month. Next week, starting Monday, January 23rd, is the fourth Monday of the month. The area that will be serviced for bulk trash collection is the area west of N.E. 5th Avenue between N.E. 38th Street and Prospect Road and all areas in Oakland Park west of I-95 (see the area shaded in blue on the enclosed map). Bulk Trash should be placed out between Sunday and 7 a.m. on Monday. Please place only acceptable items curbside for bulk collection. Please do not include items such as construction materials or demolition debris. Loose items such as leaves should be bagged and placed on the bulk pile, or in waste carts and placed out with regular waste collection service. Bulk trash collection information, including pick-up schedules and acceptable items, can be found on the City website.
