March is National Women’s History Month For activities and information related to this topic you can visit the Women's History Month webpage. We all have women in our lives who inspire us and those stories are a great way to connect with migratory students from all backgrounds.

Read examples from real girls about who inspires them from Malala Yousafzai’s site, The Malala Fund (founded by Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai in 2013 to champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education). Then have your students write letters to a woman who inspires them! The iSOSY - Write On! Letter Writing Made Easy lesson plan is already designed for you to use!

With spring on our doorstep, It’s not too early to start preparing for those important summer services.

Note that iSOSY has some great resources for orienting yourself on all things OSY! Check out these resources listed below:

Introduction to OSY - This Prezi introduces out-of-school youth – who they are, what they need, and how to help them realize their goals.

OSY Instructional Action Plan - This resource focuses on building an action plan including the following steps: Create an Effective Learning Environment, Building Rapport, Transition to Instruction, and Young Adult Learning Strategies.

OSY Relationship Building Manual - The manual is designed for anyone working with OSY to reflect on their practice and how to improve working relationships with OSY and high school students in their programs.

Finally, exploring hydroponics as spring approaches can be a fun way to engage students in science. Visit the Hydroponics Made Easy STEM Activity at sciencebuddies.org for an activity that can be tailored easily to your time schedule. Also check out Amazon.com for all the resources you’ll need!
