Autumn Joy

The joy of autumn is deeply felt here at the Parker Jewish Institute. As we reflect on all that we are grateful for, we thank the residents/patients and their families, for choosing Parker, and our staff for providing superior/compassionate health care.

Plaque Dedication

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Parker honored the Indian Cultural Committee founding members, Saroj Shah, M.D., and I.C. Shah, MD, with the Indian Cultural Unit plaque dedication. Parker’s legacy in providing superior compassionate care, is due to the leadership within the Institute and the community. Parker and the East and West Indian community are grateful to the Shah Family for their vision and dedication.

A Meaningful Internship at Parker

During the summer of 2024, two talented students, Sarah Kohls and Seth Rubin, were selected to participate in an in-depth internship at Parker. This intensive multi-department hands-on internship, provided both interns a comprehensive understanding of the many intricate operational procedures, in long-term and short-term care for adults. Parker is delighted to have played a pivotal role in Sarah and Seth's professional development and look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments.

Celebrating the Jewish Holidays

The Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah take place in the fall. Yom Kippur, which began Friday evening, October 11, 2024, and ended Saturday evening, October 12, 2024, is the highest and most sacred holiday of the Jewish calendar. For each of the holidays, Parker hosted services and festive meals for patients/residents and their families and friends.

Parker's Halloween Bash

Halloween is a festive holiday, full of adventures, goodies, scares and laughter. Throughout the week of Halloween, Parker’s Therapeutic Recreation Department hosted a series of fun, festive activities such as spooky crafts and games, as well as scary movie showings. The celebratory activities concluded on Halloween Day, with staff, patients/residents, families and visitors dressed up for a full day of social activities with plenty of tasty treats to enjoy!

Pawsitive Visits at Parker

Parker Jewish Institute partners with North Shore Animal League to organize monthly visits with their adorable puppies. Thursday, October 3, 2024, marked the first of these visits. Patients/residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to cuddle with these lovable pups. The Parker community is already looking forward to next month’s visit.
