Committee News

From the Advancement Committee:

Friends, we are less than six weeks away from our IYM sessions. Our fundraising efforts for the 2024 budget will finish during IYM sessions and we will begin to consider what our 2025 fundraising efforts will be. Right now, we have raised $119,274.31 (including $114,831.31 in cash and $4,443.00 in pledges). We are hopeful to surpass our goal of $125,000. The Advancement Committee will make recommen-dations to the Stewardship and Finance Committee in determining what any access funds will go to support. In the midst of our world's economic uncertainty, we are humbled by the trust and support IYM members are showing by giving to our efforts. We hope to share great news and celebrate IYM's leadership in serving our broken world for Jesus Christ our Lord. Please, join us in reaching our 2024 fund-raising goals. If you have any concerns, questions, suggestions, let Damon know at dseacott@gmail.com or call 517-204-5348

From the Christian Service Committee:

In these troublesome days, IYM must be light in the darkness. Crime, substance abuse, and physical and sexual abuse, are beating down our communities. Friends, please work to influence our communities and help folks see how living out the Fruits of the Spirit will overcome evil. PRAY, TAKE ACTION, BE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS.

A Message from our Superintendent

Good Morning,

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18

One thing I constantly think about is the fact that what we can accomplish together is so much more than what we can accomplish on our own. We need each other!

And, one place we often go in considering this is the idea that with more hands and feet, there are many more things we can do. As we go about getting our own hands and feet into doing the work of the Lord, the old saying ‘Many hands make light work’ really rings true.

What if we were to add to that saying to read this way, ‘Many prayers make for more impactful work’!

I know the people of IYM are a praying people. Thank you for joining together in prayer for IYM, for our leadership, for the committees, for the camps, for wider Friends

organizations, and for each other. Our God is working in those prayers.

If I could, I would like to add some items to your prayer lists…all of some of which may already be there. As we move further into the summer, please pray for:

*Campers, counselors, staffers, and leaders of the summer camping program at Quaker Haven

*FUM Triennial that is coming soon

*Pastor’s Short Course and all of our pastors

*EFM leadership and the missionaries in the field

*Lay leaders within our churches

*Our fellow churches who are doing great work for the Lord

*Potential leaders that God is calling into ministry at all levels

*The lost…and that we will be able to lead them to know, love, and follow Jesus
