Wednesdays at Wesley
On Wednesday evenings we serve a warm, home-cooked meal beginning at 5:15 p.m. in our Dining Hall. The cost is free, but donations are accepted. Following dinner is a wide range of opportunities for learning and spiritual growth.
The menu for February 8th is country style steak with mushroom gravy served with mashed potatoes and peas. All dinners come with salad bar, roll and dessert. Donations are accepted.

Volunteer Opportunity at Our Father’s Table
As the New Year begins, Wesley Memorial begins another year of serving food at Open Door Ministry. Volunteers are needed to assist in the kitchen plating food trays for hungry people in our community. Three to four adults or teens are needed the 2nd Thursday of each month from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. If you would like to serve, please contact Myra Snider at 336.803.1403.

WOW starts back on Wednesday, February 8, 2023
All ladies 18 and up are invited to attend our 7 week session "Get Out of Your Head" by Jennie Allen. WOW (Women of Wesley) will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. starting February 8th, in the back corner room of the Underground Student Ministry wing. The 7 week study will cover the book of Philippians and is filled with super truth nuggets to help you keep your sanity in a world that feels a little crazy at times! DivorceCare is starting back on Wednesday, February 8
Rather you are newly separated, just divorced or have been divorced for 15 years, DivorceCare can help you. No matter what the circumstances, divorce is a painful process for most people. DivorceCare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing divorce and separation, will start back on Wednesday evenings beginning February 8 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in room 202.
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you and healing from the pain of separation or divorce. At this 13-week, video-based support group program, you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making. DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Facing My Anger,” “Facing My Loneliness,” “New Relationships,” “KidCare” and “Forgiveness.” If you have children, our Wednesday night Games & Gospel occurs from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will provide childcare for your littles ones.

The High Point Singles Group is being formed to give individuals without partners something to do in a fun and safe environment. This is not to be considered a "speed dating" group. This is a chance to meet and make new friends, have a little fellowship and enjoy planned activities. It is open to all ages 35 years and up. The opening event is a Friendship Day Dinner & Show on February 14th and the next event will be on March 17th for a Game Night (details to follow). | |

For the past 15 years, Ellen Martin has had “the talk” with her children. For the past 10 years, she has empowered other parents to do the same in one-on-one settings. Now she offers a workshop experience, “The Talk: Embrace the Sacred Gift.” Ellen earned a Masters of Christian Education from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky., in 2005 and a Masters of Divinity in 2010.

Shrove Tuesday/Ash Wednesday
The Wesley 100 Men will be selling tickets for the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper which will take place on February 21st from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Dining Hall. Tickets are $7 each and will be available in the Bridge Cafe before and after the 9:45 a.m. service on Sunday. You may also pick up your ticket at the church office during the wee and will be sold at the door on the 21st.
Ash Wednesday Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel and 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. There will NOT be a Wednesday night dinner on Ash Wednesday, February 22. Dinner will resume on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

GriefShare's "Loss of a Spouse"

Are you widowed? Do you dread the lonely days and nights? Wonder what to do with your spouse’s belongings? Feel like your brain is in a fog? Unsure of how you’ll go on? Help is here and hope is possible. GriefShare brings you both spiritual and practical tools for surviving the loss of your spouse. Please join us for this important workshop facilitated by Abbigail Felton.
At a Loss of a Spouse seminar you’ll discover:
- Other people understand and have found ways to make it through
- Why it won’t always hurt so much
- Reasons for hope
- Practical tips for coping with the death of a spouse
A Loss of a Spouse seminar lasts about two hours. Here’s what to expect:
- Video seminar: You’ll view a 35-minute video with encouraging, practical advice from counselors, pastors, and widowed men and women.
- Sharing time: Then you’ll get to talk with other widowed people about what you learned from the video. (There’s no pressure to share!)
- A guide to bring home: Everyone receives a booklet with more than 30 short readings on how to live with grief and eventually rebuild your life.

Our feature film to be shown on the BIG SCREEN is “FATHER STU!” True story of Stu Long, the son of an abusive, mostly absent father (played by Mel Gibson) and a well-meaning but ineffectual mother (Jacki Weaver). Stu (played by Mark Wahlberg) becomes a boxer – but when he cannot fight anymore, he redirects his single-minded dedication to an even unlikelier goal – he decides to go to Hollywood to become a movie star. Following a very serious motorcycle accident, he realizes his true passion is a call to the priesthood. (PG 13 version)

Special Needs Listening Session
April Maines and Pastor Ken are holding a listening session on February 26th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. This meeting is for anyone with a special needs child, as well as, all those who may be interested in special needs ministry. The goal of this meeting is to get a deeper understanding of what Wesley Memorial can offer spiritually to those with special needs and their families. Light hor d’oeuvres will be provided.

SENIOR ADULTS – LET’S GET MOVING!
LINE DANCING IS COMING ON MONDAYS!
We had so much fun dancing last month during our January social event, so we’ve asked professional line dance instructor SANDY FULLER to keep it going for our Senior Adults! Come give it a try! You CAN do these SIMPLE dance routines for beginners. Enjoy the music, fellowship and laughter, and get in your “exercise steps!”
