CALLING ALL AERIALISTS TO COMPETE at the 10th West Coast Aerial Arts Festival, the 1st aerial competition in the world that opened its doors to all regardless of level or age.
Why compete at the WCAAF? The Ruby Karen Project helps you create and set your goals. What better way than to compete and target a hard deadline. The WCAAF has a division that will fit your age group and your level, whether you are a novice or a seasoned amateur or professional aerialist. In fact, WCAAF even opened a new division for coaches who want to push themselves to set their personal goals, yet not feeling intimidated by other divisions.
Registration is now open. But hurry up and get into their EARLY BIRD SPECIAL rate of $175, with bundled amazing package, a savings of $35.00.

What does the summer camp include?
Circus Arts (Selected Items): Acrobatics, Hand Balancing Contortion, Stilts, Juggling, Hoops, Unicycling, Plate Spinning, Dragon Flow, Butterfly Wings & Isis, Walking Ball and other similar activities
Aerials: Tissu/Silk/Fabric, Hoop/Lyra, Trapeze, Sphere, Cube, Hammock
PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE will be on Friday @1pm. Parents can supply their kids with their own costume or rent costume from us for $15.00

AUGUST 15 - SEPT 6, 2022 - SCHOOL BREAK
Make sure that when you are buying your class package, you need to finish these by August 15. We DO NOT extend class packages.
For apprentice packages, your contract will be suspending from August 15 - Sept. 6, 2022. Please make a note that your monthly tuition charge date will be automatically moved. .

Class Schedule this Summer
This summer, we will have some changes in our class schedule to accommodate students and parents that have changes in their schedules. Please ALWAYS check our schedule for changes which may occur without prior newsletter, MB or website notice.
- Limited spots for morning classes (Mix Level Open Aerials): Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:15am starting June 15 - August 10, 2022.
- 3pm Contortion class has been moved to Wednesdays at 9:15 am until August 10, 2022.
- Open Gym sessions on Fridays has been moved from 7pm to 6pm and Saturdays from 1:30pm to 12:30pm starting immediately until August 10, 2022.

WHAT IS THE APPRENTICE PROGRAM |
This program is geared towards recreational and pre-professional training in performing arts, both from a production’s front and backend. It is a contract that consist of technique classes in aerials and acrobatics combined with practice sessions. Supplemental benefits and opportunities include membership in RKP's performing team, the Orange County Aerial Arts (OCAA), demonstrations at several popular venues and community events including the OC Fair, Festival of the Arts - Laguna Beach, Newport Beach Filmfest, South Coast Plaza's Festival of Children, Thousand Lights @ Sherman Gardens and more. The program also prepares the apprentice for a single competition event at the West Coast Aerial Arts Festival.
Additionally, the apprentice learns added skills not offered to regular students, including ground acrobatics, circus arts, contortion, hand manipulation skills, acro-adagio/ acro-gymnastic partnering, and dance movement in many forms.
Lastly, the apprentice gets to have a one-on-one goal oriented discussion with us and undergoes a yearly placement examination to secure academic growth and maturity in the specific discipline/s they have chosen. It is also in this program where the student is prepped for higher education or professional undertakings.

NEED HELP WITH YOUR ROUTINE?
Ruby Karen has been a leading expert in the field of choreography, both in dance, aerials and full length productions. Whether simply needing links in your routine, to creating a customize, or commissioned work of any length, Ruby combines her expertise in dance and circus with her decades' experience both as a performer, choreographer, director and producer with a keen eye to details. Most notably, Ruby Karen has set choreographies to many well known celebrities including, Misty Copeland, Ashley Ellis, and Sofie Dossi, to name a few.
1st video: Aerial Cube creation by Ruby Karen, and performed by Staci Ensminger and Maddie Seay. This was a guest performance piece for Focus Dance Academy at the Irvine Barclay Theater.
2nd Video: Contemporary ballet choreographed by Ruby Karen with dancer, Tiffany Reid featured at the LA Dancefest in Hollywood.
Many competition routines and group productions have placed 1, 2, 3, and have been awarded and recognized including overall and choreography titles.
