Excite. Elevate. Envision
I am not a person who likes to make New Year’s resolutions. I’m not against them per se, but I personally don’t like to add extra pressure on my already full plate. I do, however, recognize and feel the renewal that comes with a new year turning over. It’s a chance to begin again, reflect, set goals and prepare for what is ahead.

This year, I have some lofty goals career-wise, but I’m choosing to focus on small things in my bubble that I enjoy and bring me peace: reading more books, taking the time to bake, cooking through a new cookbook, and just generally saying “yes” to more things that will fulfill me. I want to do things with intent and purpose to make sure that I am filling my own cup. It can be really easy to forget to do that sometimes!

Taking care of yourself = keeping your cup full. If you don’t do things to keep your cup full, you have nothing left to give or share with others.

Crush Wine Bar

Our January EWI meeting was held at Crush Wine Bar in Muskego. Members enjoyed yummy apps and finger food provided by Crush Wine Bar and Skylight Catering.

Chapter member, Jen DeLaura from Melalueca, walked us through setting up a 31-day self-care challenge that focused on implementing 3 simple things a day to bring some joy, health, and self-care back to your life during the dark winter months.

Chapter member, Jaime Wooten from Fitness Advantage Trainer, both prepared our minds for Jen's project and closed out the meeting by grounding us for the new year through meditation.

Jackie Makinen gave the invocation for January's meeting, and she shared the following two prayers (click to enlarge images):

Judith Love Cohen, who helped create the Abort-Guidance System which rescued the Apollo 13 astronauts, went to work on the day she was in labor. She took a printout of a problem she was working on to the hospital. She called her boss and said she finished the problem and gave birth to (future actor) Jack Black.
