The 14th century German Catholic theologian and philosopher Meister Eckhart, once wrote that, “If the only prayer you ever said was ‘Thank you,’ you would have said all the prayers.” I hope that this Thanksgiving was an opportunity for each of us to say all the prayers. Please know too how thankful the entire Dyer Family is to be celebrating this Thanksgiving (and the season ahead) for the first time here in Spartanburg and with this family of faith.
Speaking of the season ahead… Advent is now upon us! This Sunday we will be beginning an Advent sermon series called “Witness to the Miracle.” Each week through Christmas Eve, we will be exploring some of the lesser-known characters in the story of Jesus’s birth. From a priest in the sanctuary to shepherds in the field, these witnesses to the miracle have much to teach us about the power and place of the incarnation in our lives today. I hope you will join us as together we celebrate Christ’s coming into the world and watch with expectant hope for his coming again.
Advent blessings to you all. See you Sunday. Invite a friend!
Peace,

Happy Thankgiving!
Church Facilities Closed
In recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday, all church facilities will be closed November 24th and 25th. We pray for God's blessings for you and your family, and traveling mercies for those who will be celebrating across the country or around the world.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. - Psalm 100:4

Chrismon Ornament Collection
Sundays in November
Chrismons are ornaments made from Christian symbols (Chrismon = Christ monogram). Many of our existing Chrismons are deteriorating with age, and we need more to decorate this season. The Sanctuary Guild requests that families bring in a white and/or gold ornament that represents one of the "Christ monograms" for the trees of First Pres.
Baskets for Chrismons are located in the Tower Room, FLC Lobby and near Purnell Room throughout November.
