Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day in downtown this year

Friends,

Please join me in congratulating our indefatigable Emma Burns for being honored as one of Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 2023 40 Under 40! Emma’s work and contributions to our downtown community are clearly deserving of recognition. Thank you, Emma, for all you do to make our downtown better and congratulations for your well-deserved award.

With the Dr. King Day weekend upon us, I will suggest Minnesota’s own Sound of Blackness tonight at the Ordway (just because they're local, don’t forget that SoB is also a national treasure) as well as the free programming there Monday morning starting at 10 a.m. with the theme, “Building Black Wealth.” If you can’t make it to that program, I’ll also point folks to a great piece from our friends at MPR who put together 23 ways to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023.

Finally, to all our friends at Thompson Reuters (read their news below), I simply want to point out how great it would be for this beloved company to return to its birthplace on the bluffs of downtown in the RiversEdge project. I will pledge the full support of all our partners to do everything possible to bring you back downtown.

See you around,

Joe

Thomson Reuters to sell most of Eagan campus and look for new metro space

Global legal publishing and media data firm Thomson Reuters announced Thursday that it's selling a large part of its Eagan campus and has begun looking for new property in the Twin Cities area. The impending move comes after employee survey data revealed workers want to split their time between office and home, opting for a hybrid work environment.
