NEVADA MOONSHOT FLIGHT CREW

The Nevada Moonshot Flight Crew is a group of Nevada youth ranging between the ages of 12 to 16 who are ready to engage in opportunities & advocate for STEM. The members will receive monthly trainings on public speaking, advocacy, leadership, and more.

Meet Flight Crew Member, R'mani!

R'mani's passion for art fuels her interest in pursuing a career in engineering. She enjoys showcasing her talents and expressing herself through both art and STEM. Her involvement in STEM clubs has expanded her understanding of STEM beyond numbers and gadgets to include music, art, and business. R'mani has discovered that STEM is about "using your imagination, making things, and creating a colorful future," which is why she joined the Nevada Flight Crew.

STEM PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Mathnasium

The Mathnasium program equips students with the mathematical skills and confidence needed to excel in STEM disciplines. By offering personalized instruction, fostering problem-solving abilities, and emphasizing real-world applications of math, Mathnasium helps students build a strong foundation for success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Yenni and Yehri joined Mathnasium at different starting points: Yehri had mastered only 39% of Kindergarten-level math, while Yenni started with no formal math experience. However, both sisters have made remarkable progress and embraced their learning journey.

ACRES Coaching: Asking Purposeful Questions - 6/17 & 6/24 || 3pm-5pm PST

Register Here! Code: AC332PQ

Questions begin a path toward discovery, imagination, and STEM exploration. How can we help youth expand and clarify their thinking and develop their reasoning through the questions we ask them? This module is a great way to train staff on how to facilitate STEM learning. Experienced educators also love being part of a cohort as a way to connect with other educators across the country, to learn new lesson plans, and to reflect on practice.  This is our introductory module and a prerequisite to other opportunities. *The expectation is that you will be live at all three sessions and an active member of this coaching cohort. Recordings are not available if you are unable to attend.
