Pastor Glen's focus for his message for

this upcoming weekend:

The temptation of Jesus is but a shadow of the temptations we face daily – not merely to wealth, power or fame, but just to have some control over the uncertainties that we face every day. It is the same temptation that got Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. To have knowledge means to have control and that gives power to us who too often seem powerless. But that is the challenge we face when in faith we confess that the power belongs to God. Our search is for hope that grounds us in the real challenges of just being who we are.

Choir News

But what if I can't sing?  A tiny percentage of the population truly cannot sing. Most of us have been given the air and vocal cords we need, and what we may lack is confidence. Perhaps a negative experience affected your willingness to sing. We can develop and learn how to sing at any age.  Choir can be one opportunity to explore the voice you didn't know you had.

LIFE NIGHT TEACHER APPRECIATION DINNER POSTPONED!!

Due to the impending weather conditions, we are postponing our Appreciation Dinner to next Wednesday, March 1st at 5:30pm. Our congregation appreciates our little ones' teachers SO MUCH!!

Please plan to join us for chili, cinnamon rolls, and Costco cake NEXT WEEK!!

Communion Update:

Thank you for helping with this accommodation for Pastor Glen: because it is difficult for Pastor to bring communion to members in the pews, if you find it physically difficult to come forward during communion, we invite you to pick up the communion elements as you come into the Sanctuary and receive them during the communion liturgy when the Pastor indicates.

THANK YOU SO SUPPORTING OUR YOUTH!!

Social Concerns Committee:

We need your help with bringing food for the Have a Heart for Hunger!

Our 11th Annual "Have a Heart for Hunger" needs your continued help! Following this past weekend an additional 95 lbs. that had been collected at FLC was taken to the Washington County Food Pantry. That brings our total intake including the 564 lbs. received at our collection day on February 11 at Family Fare to 920 lbs.  Since our goal is 1200 lbs. that leaves us about one more week in February to collect 280 lbs.!  Can we do it for our neighbors in need? Let's show them that we can! Remember that the theme for this year's ingathering is all things related to soups--canned soups, dry soup mixes, kidney beans, black beans, navy beans, broth, noodles, crackers,--or anything else you wish to donate! Also, cash is always welcomed, as the Food Pantry can buy at wholesale prices and make our money stretch further than we can! Your Family Fare "Direct Your Dollar" receipts are also welcomed.

FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH will be staffing the Washington County Recycling Center on Saturday, February 25.  Thank you to all the volunteers who have signed up at the Welcome Center to serve in this capacity. However, we are still in need of at least four more volunteers for the 10:00 to Noon shift to cover the need. This is a great way to help care for the world God gave us for which we are to be stewards. And a big thank you goes to ALL of our FLC folks who work at the Recycling Center every week!

FLC Garage Sale Collection has BEGUN!!

SCAM ALERT

Scammers are pretending to be a pastor, rabbi, priest, imam, or bishop. They’re asking worshipers for gift card contributions for a worthy cause.

These appeals are fraudulent. If you receive a phone call, text, or email asking for amazon gift cards, itunes, etc. Feel free to contact the church office to verify. Do not share any personal details.

If you or someone you know paid a scammer with a gift card, report it as soon as possible. Call the card company and tell them the gift card was used in a scam. Here is contact information for some of the gift card companies that scammers use most often. Then, tell the FTC about it at ftc.gov/complaint. Your reports may help law enforcement agencies launch investigations that could stop imposters and other fraudsters in their tracks.
