Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,
Hope your summer has been enjoyable and that our Rondout families are making the most of the summer season. Here at Rondout we are busy preparing for the upcoming school year. One of the key events at the start of the school year is Parent Intake Conferences held annually during our Institute Week each August. This year the conferences will take place on Thursday August 24, 2023, between 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in person at Rondout.
K-5 conference will be held with homeroom teachers and parents. This session will offer parents and teachers an opportunity to exchange information to best support each student’s educational experience. This two-way conversation is designed for parents to share insights about their child, ask questions and connect with their child’s homeroom teacher. Teachers will also be able to share some key highlights of the year ahead. To ensure productive and helpful dialogue, this conference is designed for parents and teachers only. Please be sure to sign up on the list for your child (children’s) grade level(s) using the link below.
The Upper School (Grades 6,7 and 8) is piloting a new model for intake conferences this year. The model will include parents, the grade level homeroom teacher, students and Dr. Wojcik or Ms. Davis. The focus will be on goal setting, reviewing expectations and schedules. Parents and students will also check in with specialists and subject area faculty to review subject specific information about special subjects and upcoming events.
Students and their parents may also bring in school supplies, set up their lockers and check out information about the extracurricular activities available this coming school year. Since many families have students in multiple clusters, we will have supervised waiting areas with activities in the Multi-purpose Room for those families who may have multiple conferences and need a place for their school age children to wait. We will be unable to accommodate infants and preschoolers in our waiting areas.
We hope this new format and structure will set the stage for a productive back-to-school experience. Please use the link below to sign up for the right grade level (s). We also ask that you contact the office if you are unable to take part in Intake Conferences on 8/24/2023.
