Amendments to HRNSW Official Trials Policy


The Board of HRNSW have approved the following amendments to the HRNSW Official Trials Policy which will become effective from 1 August 2023.

Education/Green Trials

 

Previously education/green trials were for horses which had no more than two registered race starts. This has now been amended as follows:

 

Education and Green Trials are only for horses which have had no more than two registered race starts or subject to the approval of HRNSW Stewards, horses that have a history of intractability and are currently subject to a stand down of two or more official trials or continued out of the mobile barrier draw (CODM), in which case they may complete no more than two additional educational/green trials for re-education purposes only.

 

Horses Not Raced/Trialled for Period of Time

 

Previously horses imported into Australia that had not started in a race for a period of not less than 42 (clear) days were required to complete an Official Trial prior competing in a race. 

 

This has now been amended to ANY horse, including a horse imported into Australia, that has not started in a race for a period of not less than 42 (clear) days, must satisfactorily complete an Official Trial prior to it being able to be nominated for a race.

Amendments have been made to classification of tracks and the qualifying/re-qualifying times for official trials as follows:
