This Sunday
This Sunday we recognize the vibrant and valued mission of Sunday Suppers. Elaine Churchill and Kathy McKay will tell us about some of the guests and the circumstances of their lives. Susan will reflect on the Advent meaning laid bare in this mission. The Mostly Righteous will offer their version of a great song: “These Hands” by Dave Gunning and George Canyon.

And of course, we gather and worship together, for the company of one another in this very sacred season.
Next Sunday
You won’t want to miss this Advent service.

Dr. David Deane is a Professor of Theology at Atlantic School of Theology. Prior to serving with AST, he was Theologian in Residence at Colorado State University. He teaches courses in Roman Catholic Theology, Christian doctrine, Christian anarchism, Moral Theology, and Apologetics. He is a frequent theological commentator on radio and television and has written on theological issues for Times of London, the Irish Times, and the Irish Independent.

In addition to articles in academic journals, he has written three books:
  • Nietzsche and Theology: Nietzschean Thought in Christological Anthropology (Aldershot: Ashgate Publishing, 2007)
  • Still Unhealed: Treating the Pathology in the Clergy Sexual Abuse Crisis (Toronto: Novalis, 2019) (With Nuala Kenny)
  • Resisting the Tyranny of the Banal: On the renewal of Catholic Moral Theology, forthcoming (Lexington: Fortress Academic 2023)

The quilt will be sold by silent auction in December and will be on display in the sanctuary on November 27, December 4, 11, and 18th. December 18 will be the final date for bids.

Christmas is Giving Time!
At Christmas many of us enjoy Zatoun Fair Trade Palestinian olive oil: buying, using, and giving as gifts.

This Sunday Dec. 4th there will be a table at church where you can buy olive oil ($22), za’atar herb packets ($6), olive oil soap ($6), and note cards set of 4 (olive design, blank inside $15).

Linda Scherzinger took this photo Dec. 2019 when she visited the facility in the Palestinian West Bank where farmers bring their olives to be cold pressed into olive oil, stored, bottled, packed and shipped to Canada.

We support farmers of Palestine in the struggle for their livelihood and justice!
