U.S. Service Academy Nominations

What are Congressional Service Academy nominations?

Members of Congress are authorized by law to nominate candidates for appointment to four U.S. Service Academies. These schools include the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. In addition to requesting a nomination from a Member of Congress or another nominating official, an individual seeking appointment to a service academy must separately apply to the service academies to which he or she seeks to be appointed.

Senator Rick Scott is asking you to seek a nomination for appointment. For more information, click here.

Athletic Eligibility Requirements

The athletic eligibility requirements for 2024-25 can be accessed from our school website.

Physicals are good for 1 year or 365 days from the date the physical is conducted. Athletes will not be able to compete in any event, contest, or tryout unless they have a physical on file with our CHS Compliance Office that is current and covers the competition period. All physicals for 2024-25 must be completed on the new EL2 form. Please fill out all sections of the EL2 form that apply to you prior to going in for the physical.

Athletes also need to update or create their online clearance each year. They will not be permitted to participate in an athletic contest without a current Athletic Clearance. Instructions for this process can be located on our website.

Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Deals

The FHSAA has created a resource page for any student-athlete wanting to learn about the recently approved NIL bylaws. It is imperative that any athlete that enters into a NIL deal/contract adhere to these bylaws to the letter. They are also required to submit a completed Form GA1 Affidavit of Amateurism to the Athletic Compliance Department within five (5) business days of signing a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement.

Building on Faith, Family & Tradition - Phase II

As we begin a new school year, please know that our Building on Faith, Family, and Tradition Capital Campaign continues. We are still in need of all families to respond with a pledge to help us reach the $6M goal – $3M from our parents. We thank those families who have already pledged!

We are so blessed to have seen the completion of our new classrooms that are now in use. Please click on the video from Coach Matt Adams explaining the need for the practice fields that are desperately needed. You can see the full list of projects from our Campaign school website linked here and the QR code will take you directly to our Donation Page.

Our current tuition structure only includes the expenses needed to educate your student(s) for the current academic year. It does not contain any financial component toward capital additions or significant improvements to our campus, only minor maintenance repairs and periodic replacement of existing assets, and even then, we rely on grants and/or other donations to make these changes. Please prayerfully consider a sacrificial gift to help us in reaching our goal. With the implementation of the new State Scholarship program, we hope that every family will be willing to contribute to our Campaign by sharing some of your scholarship savings for the improvements identified.  Alumni Parents, check out the Alumni Challenge that we have kicked off. Details are linked from the Capital Campaign webpage. Your pledge will count toward the Parent goals as well as the Alumni Challenge!

Green & Gold Cards

Green & Gold Cards are now available. If you would like to purchase card(s), contact our Athletic Director, Richard LaBounty. The personalized cards are $75 each and will allow the card holder to enter any regular season athletic event without any further charges. Students are admitted for free to all regular season athletic contests with proof of student ID. Green & Gold Cards do not include any parking charges that may apply and cannot be used in the concession stands.

When you sign up for the free 90-day account, it will ask you to submit payment information. However, it will not draw on that payment info unless you remain registered on the Hallow App past 90 days.

Instructions for Downloading Hallow App on 90-Day Free Trial

It is an amazing app that fosters spiritual growth and deepening in prayer for all users. The contents of Hallow are voluminous and changes daily.

We encourage you to download your free account and use this app as a means of opening valuable conversations with your child that can help bring you, your child, and your family closer to Our Lord!

Click here to learn more about Shopraise, a fundraising platform similar to Amazon Smile that can help all of our CHS supporters raise money for the school while shopping. If you plan to do any online shopping, please consider using this service.

Traffic and Parking Policy

Parking Permit Hang Tags, color-coded by grade, are issued to each student who plans to drive to school any day. Faculty, also, utilize parking permit hang tags. During the school day, student cars may be parked in a CHS lot/space only if they contain a parking permit clearly displayed. Students may park only in the area defined for their class. Parking permit tags will be kept throughout the student's enrollment at CHS and will be collected prior to graduation/withdrawal.

The form on which to register a car for parking is the last page of the Parent/Student Handbook, which students received on 8/8/2024. The form should be completed, signed by the parent, and turned in to the student's Homeroom Teacher. Students who received a parking tag in 2023-24 will continue to use the same tag or purchase a new one From Coach Faucheaux. If the student is turning 16 later in the school year or will begin driving later in the school year, the form can be turned in once they start driving to school.

Patience is a requirement when dropping your student off in the morning or picking them up in the afternoon. There are several things that you can do to help the process run smoothly. Please read these instructions and adhere to them throughout the school year. Your assistance and cooperation is very much appreciated.

Parents, a few urgent reminders about afternoon student pick-up at CHS. It is IMPERATIVE that people coming to pick-up students PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE! Cars may NOT form lines within the lanes OR park along the curbs!!! There are open parking spaces in the Football Parking Lot, the West Lot by the Softball Field, and in the Back Lot that is behind the main building. ALL of these lots are available to parents to use when waiting for a student. It is NOT necessary, safe, or allowed to park along the curb or in the lanes. Please give this information to anyone who may be picking up your child at the end of the school day and PLEASE comply!

Great Gift with a Dual Purpose

The next few months have several occasions for gift-giving such as a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day, Alumni Fish Fry, Easter, etc. Why not consider the gift of a CHS Commemorative Brick that will be placed at the outside entrance to the CHS Gym? These bricks are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate family milestones and honor or memorialize loved ones. Buy a brick engraved with the year you graduated, when your parent(s) or child(ren) graduated, in honor of your favorite teacher, in memory of fallen classmates, a special person in your life, etc.

Looking for the perfect holiday, birthday, or anniversary gift? A commemorative Catholic High brick might be just the thing to create a unique and lasting memory visible for you and your family to admire for a lifetime. The clay bricks are 8" X 8" and will accommodate engraving of up to 6 lines with a maximum of 21 characters per line. Use the link pensacolachs.org/bricks to access the web form to order and pay for your commemorative brick(s). Once we have an order for five or more bricks we will place the order with the brick company. All proceeds from the sales will go to the Building on Faith, Family & Tradition Capital Campaign.

Important Policies and Protocols

Semester Exam Policy

CHS implemented a policy in 2014 that continues to be in effect and pertains to students who miss semester exams in either December or in May. This policy states: Students who miss semester exams for serious family emergencies or serious health reasons are excused and may make them up. Students absenting themselves from exams for any other reason(s) may NOT make up exams and will receive a zero for each.

Please be aware of these dates when planning family trips, etc. We first informed/reminded parents of this policy in April of 2021 for this school year. It is also contained in the CHS Parent/Student Handbook that all parents and students are required to read. So this is simply a reminder for you so that family plans will not conflict with our semester exams. As always, we ask you NOT to remove your child from school until his/her last exam is completed. Thank you so much!!

Students may earn exemption from a semester exam in a course if they have 3 or less absences in that course for the semester (remembering that 3 tardies to a class count as 1 absence), if the student’s academic average in the course is a C or better and their overall average in all courses is a 2.5 or better at the end of the first quarter in that semester (Q1 or Q3). Any student who does not have BOTH of these criteria is required to take exams. Every student in 9th-12th grade will take one mandatory exam per semester. The course in which the exam will be given will be announced at the end of the semester. This mandatory exam will be scheduled on the first exam day. No student should be absent from school until after this mandatory exam!

Lunch Protocol

Our food service vendor, PFM, began providing lunch for students to purchase beginning on Monday, 8/12. Currently, PFM is able to offer cash and ID badge payments as the means to pay for a purchased lunch. Credit/debit cards will no longer be accepted.

Lunch may also be brought from home. Microwaves are available for student use.

Lunch may not be dropped off for students. Students have the option to bring their lunch from home or purchase it in our Student Life Center. Parents who wish to buy their student's lunch using their ID badge may do so online.

If a parent provides snacks for a club meeting or event, they must be store-purchased and individually store-wrapped. No homemade snacks may be brought in for any event. Thank you for helping us to maintain these important protocols.

Parents and Students' Responsibilities for Early Dismissals

Students must bring a note from the parent to the Front Office in the morning before 7:45 a.m. if he/she will need to be dismissed early that day for any reason. The school is unable to dismiss students early if they did not bring in this note from the parent prior to school on the day of the needed dismissal. This is true whether the student will return to school that day or not. Please do not call, email or text the Front Office during the school day to request that your child be dismissed at that time. Also, please remember our policy that students may not be dismissed within 30 minutes of the dismissal time at the end of any day.

Parents' Responsibility Regarding Student Absence from School

All parents and students must adhere to the following:

  • If your child is going to be absent for a short period of time (1-3 days), please call the Front Office (850-436-6400) by 8 a.m. and leave a message on the attendance mailbox (#2 on our phone system menu), letting us know your child will be out that day. You must also send an absence excuse note in with your child when they next return to school.

  • If your child is going to be absent for a prolonged period of time (more than 3 days) for whatever reason (death in the family requiring travel, a family trip, a serious illness or injury, surgery, etc.), please call the front office (850-436-6400) and report the full details regarding your child's absence (expected length of time, nature of the absence, etc.). You must also send an absence excuse note in with your child when they next return to school. Thank you!
