 The Brooklyn Oratory Parishes

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Boniface

January 26, 2023

Online giving:  https://oratorychurch.org/onlinegiving

A big THANK YOU to all our parishioners who were able to join us at Tuesday evening’s parish gathering. Close to 200 people came together, and I believe shared a very real, personal, and healing moment. Since then, more than one person has commented that the movement of the Holy Spirit in the room was palpable - I agree! Thanks to all who sent in their questions in advance, all who presented during the night, and everyone who pitched-in to set up, handle refreshments, clean up, etc. On a personal note, I wish to share how comfortable you made me feel even while discussing challenging topics - a true testament to our trusting faith community. Know that you remain in my prayers, and I’m most thankful for yours. God Bless.

Successful Youth Artists Retreat

Thank you to all who attended the youth artists mini-retreat. The morning was comprised of a walk through the church and sacristy with Corita Kent styled view finders, mixed media making time, and prayerful contemplation with the sacred art of our parishes. Big thank you to Alfonse Borysewicz for the use of his artwork and his support in shaping this retreat!

Palms for Ashes

We will burn last year's palms to make ashes for this Ash Wednesday. If you have palms, bring them to Mass with you. A basket will be provided in the back of both churches. We hope to burn the palms on February 5 after the 9:30am Mass at Assumption.

Volunteers Needed for ABVM Coffee Hours

ABVM will be hosting a coffee hour once a month after the 9:30 am Mass through June. Volunteers are needed to bring goodies (baked goods, fruit, coffee, etc.) and to help with set-up and clean-up. The currently scheduled dates for coffee hours are February 12, March 12, April 16 and June 4. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Coleen McGrath at coleen.mcgrath@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
