Come see what YOU can do here...

From the Mental Health Office

This article, 3 Tips to Keep Your Catastrophic Thoughts at Bay by Mark Travers, Ph.D., offers some great tips for what to do when you feel like the world is ending. In addition to the below he recommends breathwork which I work with students on every week during Tranquil Thursday.

I am also a huge fan of journaling during times of intense worry as it helps formulate a plan and helps you feel prepared for anything.

Come back to the present.

Establish a time to worry.

Give cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) a try.

I hope that everyone is staying warm, taking some time for self-care, and enjoying a lovely winter.

As always, I am at CECI Tuesdays and Thursdays in office 218D.

Please feel free to email me, Ms. DeHaan at liv.dehaan@coloradoearlycolleges.org,

From the Office of Culture & Safety....

From the Office of Culture & Safety:

We hope everyone has had a wonderful week!!!

We want to take a moment and revisit some of our School Dress Code and ID Badge Policies:

  • Students should wear clothing that covers ALL undergarments and midriffs. Pants/jeans must be worn at the waist. No underwear, boxers or undergarments may be visible.
  • NO spaghetti strap tops allowed without being always covered up.
  • Pajamas, slippers, blankets, and costumes are not allowed.
  • Hooded sweatshirts or Hoodies may be worn; however, the hood must not cover the head.

Beanies are only allowed to be worn on Fridays....

Student IDs are required to be worn while on campus for safety reasons. If you do not have a lanyard or plastic sleeve, see Ms. Whitney at the front desk for replacements for a $5 charge. We see many of you following this requirement and we appreciate your support in this manner.

Students MUST clean up after themselves, including lunchroom tables, games, outdoor picnic tables and 2nd/3rd floor workstations. Let us all make a conscious effort to resolve this problem and keep our wonderful school looking beautiful.

Jeff Gardella (Director of Campus Culture)

Juan Hernandez (Campus Monitor/CECI Bus Driver)

Lastly, The “I Love You Guys” Foundation is the educational program we use here at CECI for our school safety Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is not based on individual scenarios, but on the response to any given scenario. Each month we conduct safety drills to sharpen our awareness and effectiveness in case of an incident at school. The six drills we discuss and train for are as follows Fire, Hold, Secure, Lockdown Evacuate and Shelter. The following link will provide you with a video on these drills and some of the basic procedures that our staff and students practice for each scenario.

For 11th grade Science CMAS:

Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)- 11th graders take SCIENCE assessment on April 21.

CMAS results provide a picture of student performance to schools, districts, teachers, parents, and the community. Results show how students are progressing academically, which is a key component to ensuring students are on track to graduate prepared for college and career. CMAS is designed to assess higher-level skills such as critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving. These assessments also help inform our school and district leaders on the changes needed to strengthen student outcomes in our district, which is why it’s so important for families to participate.

All 11th graders are automatically signed up for Science CMAS.

If your student would like to OPT-OUT for any of these tests, please fill out the OPT-OUT form available at front desk and return to Emily Brown, Assessment Coordinator.
