We believe 2022 will prove to be a memorable year for grapes in Northern Loudoun County!
Having escaped late frosts in May, our vineyard was off to a good start for the 2022 growing season. We enjoyed an extended cool and wet spring. July brought drier and hotter temperatures. Our lawns did turn completely brown for about two weeks, but minimal rainfall greened them up again.
Dry & hot conditions continued in August through October with only one tropical storm threatening heavy rainfall to the ripening grapes. As luck would have it, Hurricane Ian tracked to the west of us and only brought an inch and half of rain.
The 2022 growing season produced an excellent crop of wine grapes. As a result, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc Rosé, Traminette and Traminette Amber wines are now resting in barrels and tanks. We have a bottling planned for early Spring 2023 and will begin to release new wines shortly thereafter.
