Last weekend, I attended the GS vs App State game. What a wild one! Now, we are going bowling! This month, I will do a reprise of my December 2021 message. I love this essay and its message for the holiday season. No matter how you celebrate and spend time this holiday, I hope you take time for yourself and friends and family, and find your sense of joy and wonder.
My word for this month is BELIEVE. I have always loved the “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897. The message behind this short essay is one for all, in my opinion. The idea that if we do not BELIEVE, “There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished….Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.”
I hope you BELIEVE this holiday season and take time to imagine the beauty in our world, appreciate your colleagues, friends and family, and take time to ignite your own childlike wonder and enjoyment. In closing, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Professional Engagement Committee including Alison Gould, Taylor Goody, Caleb Reeves, and Kelly Dolata. Thanks to them for planning a holiday gathering for the division. I hope to see everyone there on December 15!
Happy Holidays and Go Eagles!
