Objectives:
- Understand the implications of imperfect expert reliability in developing machine learning algorithms that emulate expert interpretation of medical diagnostic tests.
- Understand the advantages of interpretability in machine learning approaches to detecting seizures and rhythmic and periodic patterns in patients with critical illness.
- Understand why conventional statistical methods cannot disentangle the effects of brain injury, harmful brain activity (like seizures), and treatment, on neurologic outcomes, and how to overcome these limitations.
