"Seeking an Opportunity to Find Hope and Fulfill my Calling"
In my short 33 years of life, I have had the privilege to serve the Lord in many capacities through service opportunities with the most vulnerable in our country and around the world. Serving for so many years and continually seeing the extent of our brothers and sisters suffering can discourage and dishearten even the most faithful. Five years ago, I was seeking the opportunity to find hope and fulfill my calling to serve again. This was when YDIFM was just beginning.
As one of the first volunteers for YDIFM, I have seen the organization grow exponentially. In an extremely complex context, with many of our neighbors continuing to be unhoused, YDIFM gives me hope. It is a candle in the darkness!
The YDIFM model is unique. It unifies elements of a broken system with compassion placing our neighbors at the center. The work is long and hard, but every minute is worth it when you hear the news that one of our friends, we have seen suffer week after week gets a home or has found their next step in life.
I am grateful to be a volunteer with YDIFM. It has provided a reignited sense of hope that although the problems and suffering of the world are overwhelming, that standing together as a community, we can successfully restore dignity and life to our neighbors.
