Join the Bureau of Business & Economic Research this summer for their Mid-Year Economic Update from Tuesday - Thursday, August 1-3 in seven cities across Montana where we will discuss Montana's electricity supply and provide an update on the Montana and U.S. economies.

Our very own President/CEO Todd O'Hair will give a presentation on:
Partnership in Policy Agenda Key to Business Success

State legislation can have a significant impact on businesses, both positive and negative. As the Montana Chamber of Commerce, we are the voice of business at the Capitol in Helena and advocate for policies that encourage entrepreneurship, attract investments, and foster a friendly business climate, ultimately leading to job creation and economic prosperity. We work to eliminate or mitigate burdensome regulations such as working with the Lt. Governor on the Red Tape Relief effort and serving on the Governor’s Housing Task Force to find ways to speed up construction. Further, we support tax incentives, access to capital, infrastructure development, and other policies that foster the growth and success of local businesses like HB212, Increase of the Business Equipment Tax Exemption. By providing valuable insights and expertise on how proposed laws may impact businesses, jobs, and the overall economy, we help policymakers make more informed decisions. I will share outcomes from the 68th Legislature and our policy work in preparation for 2025.

Montana's Electricity Supply: Adequate for How Long?
Most of us understand that if we fail to put gas in the tanks of our cars and trucks, they will eventually sputter and stop. That’s a poor analogy for Montana's electricity supply grid, except for one thing. If we continually fail to invest in the capacity to produce and deliver electrical power to our homes and businesses, it will fail almost as certainly as an empty gas tank will leave us stranded. Power interruptions in Montana in 2020 cost the economy more than $450 million, with 90 percent of the losses borne by small commercial and industrial businesses. What will it take to turn this situation around? Greater awareness of the consequences of inaction is one place to start.

Don't miss this must-see summer networking event!
FEDERAL RESERVE BUSINESS SURVEY:
How is the economy affecting your business?
Survey closes EOD, Mon, July 24
Businesses today face a multitude of challenges. To help understand these challenges, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is partnering with chambers of commerce, economic development associations, and other organizations on a survey of businesses across Ninth District states (MN, MT, ND, SD, WI, UP/MI).

Please take this 7-minute survey to help the Minneapolis Fed and our local partners understand the impact that the economy is having on your business. Results are shared with our partners (who sent you this survey) and they can share results with you once the survey is closed. Results are also shared with the general public.

All responses are anonymous. To maintain anonymity, please do not include any self-identifying information in any comments. If you get this survey from multiple sources, please respond to the survey only once.

The Minneapolis Fed greatly appreciates your time and valuable insight.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOU AS AN EMPLOYER Medicaid renewals are coming!
Montana businesses can help provide information to their employees about the Medicaid unwinding taking place over the next ten months (until January 2024) so that employees who lose Medicaid coverage are able to successfully transition to other health insurance coverage. Check out covermontana.org for more information.
Your insurance agent or broker can provide assistance during this process, however Cover Montana can also give you as an employer more information about the Medicaid unwinding process and how to best support employees transitioning their coverage.

Employers with questions should reach out to Tierney Strandberg, tstrandberg@mtpca.org at the Montana Primary Care Association.
GET YOUR INCOME TAX REBATE - GetMyRebate.MT.gov
With the historic tax relief package Gov. Greg Gianforte signed into law on March 13, the Montana Department of Revenue will begin issuing rebates of 2021 individual income taxes to over 530,000 qualifying Montana taxpayers beginning July 3.

The department anticipates distributing most rebates by August 31. Best of all, taxpayers do not need to apply for the rebate.

“We have the important job of getting these rebates back to eligible Montana taxpayers as quickly and easily as possible”, said Montana Department of Revenue Director Brendan Beatty. “Remember to check your bank statement or the mail for your rebate.”
Rebates will be sent to qualifying taxpayers according to the information provided on the most recently filed Montana Form 2—either electronically via direct deposit, or by paper check to the address on the return.

For additional information about the Individual Income Tax Rebate or to check on the status of a rebate, visit GetMyRebate.mt.gov.

Now, the third generation has joined the family business with the addition of York’s grandson, Lars Losee and granddaughter, Abby York.

Land touches every human being on the planet and land has been the focus of the York Family for over 50 years. With our beginnings rooted in Timberland, the York Team has left its mark and signature on thousands of acres and millions of square feet across nearly every Real Estate sector.
