We are so fortunate to have a Parish Lenten Mission being offered to us this year, April 6, 7 and 8! Our Lenten theme, “Go Light Your World” invites us to renew the light of Christ within ourselves. As Christ’s light and life grow in our own hearts it can shine though us in ways that others can see and be touched by God’s love.
A Parish Mission is a special spiritual encounter to help us deepen our relationship with God. Our mission offers everyone in the parish an opportunity to participate. Adults and teens can hear inspiring presentations from a guest speaker and our children can experience our Mission in an active learning environment.
The Lenten Mission will be led by Fr. Joe Laramie, SJ, a Catholic Jesuit priest and the national director of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer network (Apostleship of Prayer) and author of several articles and spiritual books. Fr. Laramie is a National Eucharistic Preacher and will invite us all to reflect and pray on the ways we go forth from receiving Christ in the Eucharist to be Christ to others.
One thing that makes our Parish Mission so special is that it is really for EVERYONE in our parish. Our Parish Mission is a retreat experience for all ages!
ADULTS: There are presentations for adults:
· Sunday, April 6, presentation following the 9 a.m. Mass
· Monday, April 7, light dinner, 5:15 p.m., presentation following at 6 p.m.
· Tuesday, April 8, Mass at 8:45 a.m., presentation following for adults and school children for grades 4-8
HIGH SCHOOL: Our high school teens will join us for Fr. Laramie’s presentations, Sunday and Monday
I would especially like to highlight the Mission opportunity for children. The dedicated Children’s Team, Tasha Baures, Taylor Baar, Lea Boyd, Ann Grunwaldt, Tina L’Empereur, Debbie Kusch, Michelle Lukas and Liz Udovich have developed an active faith-filled program. They have worked hard behind the scenes to provide a wonderful Mission experience for our children!
CHILDREN: All children in grades K3-7th grade are invited to participate in the Children’s Programing during the Lenten Mission. 8th grade students are invited to help as leaders for our younger children!
Children and their leaders will gather for a snack on Sunday morning and a meal on Monday evening and a large group activity. Next the students will break into small groups by age where they will be led through several hands-on station activities, learning how they can shine their light into the world. The activities will include crafts, discussion and games.
We have two key objectives for our children: to understand that Jesus is the light, and to follow Jesus, who is the light.
To ensure we have enough supplies and helpers for the children’s programming we ask you to please register children for the mission.
A Parish Mission offers a unique gift to us in this special season to dedicate time and attention to our spiritual lives. We hope you and your families will join us for this opportunity!
